Swimming Pool and Spa Design and Construction Complete pool and spa design, construction, and remodeling like no one else in Southern Arizona!

First swim of the school year. First week back. First jump off the tanning ledge.

This is the Southern Arizona cheat code: a pool finished in August is a pool you actually use this year, not just something you dream about until next June.

This family went from consultation to first swim in time for the new school year. Their build: a Baja tanning ledge, spillway spa, full LED lighting package, and a StoneScape finish.

If your backyard is still waiting, fall builds are open. Free consultation at the link in bio.
Pools by Design serves Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana, Catalina Foothills, Dove Mountain, Sahuarita, and Sierra Vista.

Real question: when does your pool season actually end? Drop a leaf if you cover up after Labor Day like most of the country, a sun if you swim into October, or a snowflake if your spa runs all winter. In Tucson we proudly claim all three. Where do you land? We are betting this feed is about to get very, very sunny.

Keeping a pool sparkling through monsoon storms and a jam-packed school schedule sounds impossible, but it comes down to good gear and a five-minute habit. Run a variable speed pump 8 to 10 hours a day, skim after every storm, and let automation babysit the chemistry. A quality filter and a salt system do the grunt work so you do not have to. In Tucson, where storms crash the party into the late summer, low-maintenance design is what keeps your evenings yours. That is how Pools by Design specs every build. Want the easiest screen-free family time on the planet? Open the back door. A backyard pool needs no setup, no driving, and zero convincing, and in Tucson the window runs from spring all the way into late fall. That means it survives the return of homework, alarm clocks, and packed lunches. The pool does the heavy lifting. Your only job is to yell cannonball first. Pools by Design builds backyards families actually use. Free consultation at the link in bio.

Rapid fire, long-Arizona-season edition: sunrise swims or sunset swims? Spa first or pool first? Graceful dive or chaotic cannonball? Pick your lane in the comments. We are just out here settling backyard debates on a warm September evening that most of the country would trade a snow shovel for.

Fall is the prize you win for surviving a Tucson summer, and your backyard is where you cash it in. As September approaches to finally cool the evenings, the pool stays warm, the fire feature clicks on, and dinner outside somehow stretches into a three-hour event. Everyone else is dragging their patio furniture into the garage. You are just getting started. This is the season a Southern Arizona backyard was born for, and Pools by Design builds for it. Smart pool automation means running your entire pool from your phone, which is a lifesaver once the school-year calendar turns into a full-contact sport. Pentair IntelliCenter and The Pool Attendant by Poolside Tech handle the pump, heater, lights, and water features on a schedule you set once and happily forget. Fire up the spa from the pickup line so it is toasty when you pull in. Free consultation at the link in bio. Serving Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana, Catalina Foothills, Dove Mountain, Sahuarita, and Sierra Vista.

A sun shelf, also called a tanning ledge or Baja shelf, is a shallow platform 6 to 12 inches deep at the pool's edge, and it is the undisputed MVP of any Tucson backyard. Add an umbrella sleeve and boom, you have shaded lounging right in the water on a 100-degree day. Toddlers splash safely, adults sip something cold, everybody wins. In our long season this little ledge works more overtime than anyone. Small footprint, huge payoff. Free consultation at the link in bio.

Would you rather: a sleek pool built for peaceful sunrise laps, or a party-ready pool with a spa, a waterfall, and a fire feature that makes the neighbors mildly jealous? In Tucson's long summer season you will get months out of either one. Drop your pick and the one feature you refuse to live without. For the record, we happily build both.

Design approved. Permits submitted. Excavation scheduled. Here is the behind-the-scenes on one of our fall builds: a negative-edge pool with a raised spa and a full LED lighting package.

In Pima County and the Tucson metro, Pools by Design typically moves from finalized design to first dig within four to six weeks of permit approval. For homeowners who have been sitting on a plan, that window is shorter than most expect.

Fall builds in Southern Arizona make sense. Cooler temps mean cleaner gunite work. And a pool in the ground this fall is a pool you swim in before the year is out.
