Mike Bisaro has a very exciting new venture, joining his alma mater as a part of the New Mexico State University Business Council. He attended his first Business Advisory Council, a professional development seminar, and participated in mock interviews with students.
Mike has always seen the value in mentoring the next generation, and this is just one of the many ways he continues to give back by sharing his experience, guidance, and encouragement with future professionals. We’re proud to see him making an impact and helping students prepare for successful careers ahead while giving back to his alma mater.

This Week’s Financial Snack brought to you by Zach Rivard!
How much do I need in my emergency fund?
An emergency fund should cover at least 3 to 6 months of living expenses, depending on one’s circumstances. If you have multiple sources of income that are reliable such as a spouse’s salary, passive income (e.g., rental income), or a side hustle, you may need less of an emergency fund. Conversely, if the only source of household income is one person’s employment income, an emergency fund should be closer to 6 months of expenses. If income is variable or lumpy as may be the case for someone in sales, you may consider an emergency reserve that is even longer.
Questions to Ask Yourself:
✔️ How many months of living expenses could I cover if my income stopped tomorrow?
✔️ How stable and diversified is my household income?
✔️ Do I have any upcoming life events that will change how much I need?

Happy Financial Literacy Month! Here are some of our best tips to grow your own blooming financial garden.
➡️ Start where you are. It’s never too late (or too early) to begin nurturing your blooming financial garden!
🌳Credit Score Tree: Keeping your credit usage low, paying your bills on time, and monitoring your credit score regularly are the best ways to cultivate a great credit score!
🍯Savings Well: Automating your savings and making sure you have an emergency fund will set you up for success!
🪑Budgeting Bench: Stop and ask yourself where you can improve your spending habits. It’s important to get an idea of how you’re spending your money to create a successful budget. At StraightLine, we believe in the 50/30/20 rule, using 50% of your income for needs (utilities, groceries, gas, house payments, etc.), 30% for wants (all the fun stuff), and 20% for savings.
💐Blooming Financial Garden: You’ll be surprised at how fast your financial garden will start blooming with these slight adjustments to everyday habits!
