This end of July marks Creative Day Technologies’ departure from Mackinac Island for the summer of 2026. Each season on the island has its own rhythm.

The work is familiar, but never routine.

The setting is iconic, but every event brings a different client, a different audience, and a different story to tell. That is what keeps this place meaningful for our team.

Producing events at the Grand Hotel asks us to balance preparation with adaptability, technical precision with respect for the venue, and modern production with the timeless character of Mackinac Island.

For Creative Day, the reward is helping clients create experiences that feel connected to the place and memorable long after the lights go down.

Innovation doesn't happen by waiting for the next trend. It happens by saying yes to challenges that haven't been solved yet.

Last year, former Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan wanted to deliver his final State of the City address from The Department at Hudson's, Detroit's newest event venue.

There was just one catch.

The venue was still under construction and wouldn't officially open for another six months. That meant no one had produced an event there before. No playbook. No previous load-in. No lessons learned.

Working alongside the City of Detroit and Barton Malow, our team stepped into a building that was still concrete, steel, and hard hats. We walked the space before walls were finished, took measurements from construction drawings, coordinated a temporary certificate of occupancy, and planned a broadcast-quality production in a venue that didn't technically exist yet.

But when you're out front, you're the one discovering the pitfalls and making the path smooth from the rest who are following behind. We adjusted, pivoted, thought creatively and delivered a polished, broadcast-worth production for the Mayor and the citizens he was speaking to in the middle of a construction zone!

That's what we love about this industry.

Being first means asking questions no one else has had to ask yet.

It means solving challenges before they become obstacles and building the roadmap for everyone who follows.
