Our very own Megan MacKethan is featured on the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation page. Thank you for sharing your story Meg, we are so proud of you.
What happens when the daily demands of cystic fibrosis meet the challenges of ADHD? On the CF Community Blog, Megan MacKethan shares what that reality looks like in her life — the invisible mental load, the constant juggling, and what she wants others to understand.
"What I’ve learned through therapy and coaching is that shame is very common with ADHD, and it creates a vicious cycle. You fall behind, you feel ashamed, you avoid doing the thing because it feels bad, and then the bad feeling builds. And when the thing you are avoiding is your health, it feels even worse. Shame is a complex and deep emotion — while guilt is feeling bad about something you did, shame is feeling like there’s something wrong with who you are.
For me, it was never just about procrastinating starting a treatment. It was the feeling that I was failing at something I was supposed to be good at. Something that really mattered to me and all of my loved ones – my health. That is a heavy weight to carry, and it’s something I’m working hard to unravel. I’m not lazy — I have ADHD!"

Our local team is so full of gratitude this Great Strides season. We want to extend a huge thank you to all of the team members at Valvoline Instant Oil Change who showed up and helped us at our six Great Strides walks in Michigan and NW Ohio this year. Every single one of our walks had support from VIOC and our staff is beyond grateful to each and every VIOC team member. From unloading trucks, setting up tents, working registration, to clean up crew, we could not have done this season without you all. THANK YOU. 💜

Cystic fibrosis is more than a lung disease. It is a genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 31, Kristen Chidsey never fit the traditional picture of CF. What carried her through was individualized care and the unwavering support of the CF community.
“For years, I carried a collection of unexplained health issues that never quite added up. I didn’t cough, I didn’t wheeze, and nothing about me fit the traditional picture of cystic fibrosis.”
