Troy University researcher Dr. Aboulfaz Barati has received an approximately $249,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to explore how materials recovered from waste can be redesigned to help plants survive drought.
The project, titled “Architected Tolerant Superabsorbent Platforms Derived from Heterogeneous Waste Streams for Water-Resilient Seedling Establishment,” aims to not only show that a recycled material can absorb water, but to understand how the internal structures control the ability to store, transport and release water under realistic conditions like soil pressure, variable water availability and dissolved salts.

For one weekend in Troy, they did.
The Alabama Small Business Development Center at Troy University brought Weekend Ventures to Troy Sept. 18-20, challenging participants to move from identifying a problem to researching customers, developing a business model and pitching a potential venture in less than three days.

Troy University is incredibly proud to celebrate alumna Caroline Alexis Clark as she takes the stage on Season 30 of The Voice! 🎤
A 2022 Troy University graduate, Caroline earned her bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in criminal justice before continuing her education at Faulkner University, where she recently earned her law degree. Now studying for the bar exam, Caroline is also pursuing her longtime passion for music as a contestant on The Voice.
After an impressive blind audition, Caroline earned a spot on Team Riley Green, beginning a new chapter in her journey as a performer.
Congratulations, Caroline! The TROY family is proud to celebrate this exciting accomplishment and will be cheering you on throughout your journey on The Voice!
