When markets feel uncertain, the question comes up a lot: “Should I move to cash?”
At Stalt, the conversation is usually less about being all in or all out, and more about whether the level of risk still fits your plan, timeline, and comfort with volatility.
Small adjustments can matter more than emotional all-or-nothing moves 💡
Continuing the hot topic of cash, holding cash can feel comfortable during uncertain markets.
But too much cash comes with trade-offs.
Inflation can reduce purchasing power over time, and sitting on the sidelines may mean missing other opportunities that fit your plan.
“Emergency fund” makes it sound like cash is reserved for disasters.
But liquidity can also give you options!
It can help with unexpected expenses, a home down payment, investment opportunities, or other moments where quick access to cash matters.
The “textbook” answer for an emergency fund is usually 3–6 months of expenses.
But the better answer is: it depends.
Your income, job stability, household structure, expenses, and business ownership all play a role in how much liquidity may make sense.
Most people do not think deeply about their finances until life changes.

These moments often bring new questions, new decisions, and a need for a bigger-picture plan.
You might know the words: 401(k), IRA, HSA.
But do you actually understand what they mean and how they fit into your personal financial life?
Financial vocabulary is one thing. Comprehension is another.
At Stalt Financial, we believe understanding your finances plays a big role in understanding the language behind them. 💡
