Old Growth ENERGY 😊🙏🏽 This 1000 year old grandmother red cedar is one of the oldest trees in Vancouver. Hidden just off one of the main paths in Stanley Park. What an absolute treat to have Colin from @ancient_trees_of_vancouver take me to some of his favourite spots in the park. How lucky are we to have ‘urban old growth’, remnants of ancient times when the trees in this area were as tall as the tallest sky scrapers????? It’s Family Day in BC today, and it strikes me that these beings are our family. They know us better than we know ourselves. They’ve watched us… in this case, 1000 years of us… and their patience and grace seems infinite. I hope we can find the courage to stop cutting down these giants, and to spend time connecting with and learning from them. In Vancouver you don’t have to travel far to see some of the most amazing trees in Canada! Perhaps in the whole world. They’re holding down ancient vibes just a short walk from downtown. Colin takes people out almost every day to meet them in person. I learned more about this rare ecosystem in a couple of hours than I have in the entire 20 years of living in the city! It was so fun. Happy family day - hug a tree, kiss a mushroom, high five some moss xoxo Next up (links in bio) March 1: Vancouver Mushroom Church May: Field Trips across Europe #mycelium #fungi #cedar #forest #synth #vancouver #stanleypark #oldgrowth
