The No. 1 cause of work zone accidents is inattentive driving. As you head out for the weekend, remember to put your cell phone down and pay attention in work zones - if not for yourself and your family, then for all the moms, dads, sons and daughters working on our roads and bridges. Let's keep everyone safe on Kansas roads - today and every day.

Did you know? Speeding up from 55 MPH to 65 MPM only saves you 1 minute of drive time on a 6-mile trip. 508 people were injured while hurrying or being distracted in a work zone last year. Drive alert and ditch the distractions in work zones so we can keep everyone safe on Kansas roads.

Welcome to LEXECO, our newest contractor member! Founded in 1959, Leavenworth Excavating & Equipment Company provides excavation, grading, site preparation, structure removal, soil stabilization, aggregate bases, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and waterlines. Contact them at 913-727-1234 or visit Lexeco.com to learn more.

There were more fatal crashes and more injury crashes on Kansas roads last year compared to 2023. Most occurred during the day and during good weather conditions. We can keep everyone safe on Kansas roads by putting down cell phones, turning down distractions and driving alert in work zones.

Kansas averaged 4.6 work zone accidents last year - a total of 1,705 crashes. Most ended in property and vehicle damage, 8 ended in lives lost. Drive alert and ditch the distractions in work zones so we can keep everyone safe on Kansas roads.

Today marks the start of National Work Zone Awareness Week. With hundreds of Kansans working on our roads and bridges, let's remember that every worker is someone's mom, dad, son or daughter. Drive alert and ditch the distractions in work zones so we can keep everyone safe on Kansas roads.
