Congratulations to KBA President Mark A. Dupree, Sr. for being awarded the Best of 2024 President's Page Award for his article “Remembering Your Why”, published in the June/July 2024 Kansas Bar Journal.

President Dupree will accept the award during the NCBP Midyear Meeting Awards Luncheon on Friday, January 31, 2025. This award recognizes the best of those messages sent by bar leaders to their members during 2024.

Ba**er Almohammadi, Publications Chair

Ba**er is a Truman Fellow at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and an adjunct professor, teaching Introduction to American Common Law & Culture. He earned his Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) with Honors from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2023 and holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Additionally, he earned an LL.M. from KU and a Social Justice Graduate Certificate from Harvard Extension School.

Licensed to practice law in New York, Kansas, and Missouri, Ba**er has been recognized for his outstanding pro bono work at both KU and UMKC. As Publications Chair, Ba**er is eager to contribute his expertise and help communicate the mission and achievements of the YLS.

Suzie Locke, Legislative Liaison (interim)

Susie is an attorney with Adams Jones Law Firm, P.A., working primarily out of the El Dorado office. Her practice focuses on family law, civil litigation, probate, and business law. A 2020 graduate of Washburn University School of Law, Susie is in her second year of serving on the YLS Executive Board.

As Legislative Liaison, Susie is dedicated to exploring how YLS can better serve its members in legislative matters. She’s excited to collaborate with members and make a meaningful impact in this important area.

The Young Lawyers Section invites you to be a volunteer judge for its Kansas High School Mock Trial Competition on February 22, 2025. We need judges for both the morning and afternoon sessions at the Wyandotte County District Court and the Sedgwick County District Court.

Young Lawyers Section Board Spotlight:
Megan Storie, Pro Bono Chair

Megan is a graduate of Washburn University School of Law, where she earned both her Juris Doctorate and Masters in Criminal Justice. Now starting her private practice at Ward Law in Wichita, Megan is an active member of the Wichita Bar Association, serving on multiple committees, and plays a key role in the Kansas Bar Association, including serving on the Diversity and Membership Committees.

Beyond her legal work, Megan is involved in the Wichita Junior League, Big Brothers Big Sisters. As Pro Bono Chair, Megan is passionate about providing young attorneys with opportunities to volunteer, often partnering with Kansas Legal Services.

Hammons P. Hepner, Social Co-Vice Chair

Hammons P. Hepner is an Associate Attorney at Sharp Law, LLP in Prairie Village, KS, where he represents plaintiffs in class actions and complex litigation across the country. With experience in multiple bench trials and briefing issues and appeals at many state and federal courts, his practices area include agriculture, antitrust, consumer protection, and oil & gas law. In addition to his practice, Hammons spearheads the firm’s summer associate recruitment program.

Hammons is the membership chair for the Kansas and Western District of Missouri chapter Federal Bar Association, a member of the American Bar Association, the American Agricultural Law Association, and the Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law, and is the secretary for the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association – Kansas City chapter.

Ande Davis graduated from Washburn University School of Law in 2022 and clerked with Hon. Daniel Crabtree with the United States District Court for the District of Kansas in Kansas City. He is currently a teaching fellow at Washburn University School of Law where he has taught courses in property, evidence, professional responsibility, legal analysis, and federal Indian law. He loves to help new attorneys find their way in the profession and build meaningful careers.
