Phoenix Canstruction 2026 is underway at ! This annual Arizona fundraiser brings together teams from the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industries for a one-of-a-kind design competition—building incredible structures entirely out of canned food. After the winners are crowned, every single can goes to St. Mary’s Food Bank.
We were excited to help cut platforms for a few of the teams this year, including creative builds from , , ,Whiting-Turner Contracting, and just to name a few.
You can vote for your favorite creation and support the cause at https://www.canstructionphx.org/ over the next few weeks. Your donation counts as a vote : $1 = 1 vote.

Not all cuts are created equal, especially when specialty tooling is involved.

For this project, we’re dialing in a T-slot bit before moving into T-molded tabletop production. A quick test cut helps us verify: proper fit + clearance, tool depth + alignment, material behavior, edge quality, final part functionality.

A few extra minutes up front can prevent wasted material, rework, and costly surprises later. Every tool, material, and setup matters.

One of the most rewarding parts of CNC manufacturing is seeing the transformation.

Every project starts the same way: as a simple sheet. The final shape? That's where creativity and precision come together.

What’s the most unusual shape you've ever seen cut from a flat sheet?

Some of our customers work in the audio-visual (AV) field, designing and setting up spaces like home theaters, recording studios, and event venues. Here are some perforated panels we cut for . These are used to control the acoustics in a room, absorbing/scattering the sound waves. If you ever need help in the AV realm, call Alex, he's a great guy and very knowledgeable! He even consulted with us on a few ways to improve the noise levels in our office.

We’re spotlighting a unique plastic we regularly machine for industrial applications: Acetal (Delrin®).

What it’s best used for:
• Mechanical parts + components
• Gears, rollers, and spacers
• Jigs, fixtures, and tooling components

Acetal has plenty of household uses too like seat belt parts, ski bindings, furniture hardware and zip ties!

It is known for its high strength, low friction, and excellent wear resistance. It machines exceptionally well and holds tight tolerances, making it ideal for precision components.

Have a project that calls for Acetal (Delrin®)?

Send us your file or idea — the CNC Labworks team is ready to help bring it to life.

We had the opportunity to cut and edgeband a variety of cabinet components for this project by HandCraft, and it’s always rewarding to see the final result once everything comes together. We may be biased, but we think our customers are really talented 🙂 What do you think?
