“August 2026 Train Show Press Release”
Train Fun in Tehachapi the weekend of August 15th and August 16th
TEHACHAPI LOOP RAILROAD CLUB
On 10 July, 1876 the Southern Pacific railroad conquered the Tehachapi Pass and entered what has become our town of Tehachapi! That was 150 years ago. In recognition of this event, the Tehachapi Loop Railroad Club (TLRC) is conducting a Summer Model Train Show on Saturday, August 15th from 10 AM to 5PM and Sunday, August 16th from 10 AM to 4 PM. The show is located at the Tehachapi Education Center (next to Coy Burnett Stadium) at 126 S. Snyder Ave in Tehachapi. This is an admission free event, thanks to the financial sponsorship of Alta One Credit Union, Cerro Coso Community College, Eagle Optometry, Friends of the Tehachapi Depot and South Street Digital. Please consider utilizing their services next time and mention their support of these train shows.
The town of Tehachapi will be filled with Mountain Festival family entertainment opportunities during these dates and the TLRC is hoping that you will find time to visit the train show where you will be entertained by the whistles, bells, huffing and chuffing of model trains as you watch the operating layouts of all sizes. It's a fun time for the public as well as the modelers, vendors and exhibitors. The featured model train layout exhibitors are: American Flyer Wide Gauge, G- scale, Gemora (G-scale), Group 160 (N-scale), Southern California S-Gaugers, Thomas and Friends, Toy trains, wooden toy trains and ZoCal (Z-scale).
In addition to sponsorship tables, there will be a TLRC promotions table, featuring gift items for the rail fans in your family: hats, shirts, pins, plaques, jewelry and more. Baked goods will be available for purchase and enjoy while you tour the layouts and explore vendor train memorabilia. As a 501(c) 4 organization, donations are always appreciated. This is wonderful fun for all ages and we are anxious to share the hobby with everyone. For more information email [email protected]

I have been looking for references to the train referred to as Tehachapi Mail. I was told that if it was labeled Tehachapi, you had the most stops.
I think the times are a hoot. Does anyone else have Tehachapi Mail Train References?

This was my first Amtrak trip in 1985. I went from Fox Lake(Metra) to Chicago Union Station and then Amtrak to Raton, New Mexico. That would be the first of many cross country trips.
Where was your first train trip to?
