Sometimes I feel as if I never get anything done. It’s easy to feel this way when I start so many new projects but never complete them. Even though some things feel like nothing, they are still a step further to completion. We should all celebrate even the smallest of steps because that is progress!

I made a resolution this year to knock out as many of my UFOs (unfinished objects for you non-quilters!) as possible. Here is some progress I have made so far this year!

I finished 2 custom quilts that are pretty much the same, but 1 is a gift so I can’t post photos yet.

Two tops completed ready for quilting. Quilting designs also figured out!

My first customer quilt in Tehachapi with my new longarm. Thank you Cherie!

I have also made progress on my 3 BOM projects (shown in another post). I also finished the top for the 2023 TMQ quilt that I hosted!

I have made progress on my Moda Blockheads 1 quilt that is a group project with my old friendship group from Rancho Cucamonga. I fell behind a little on this after I cut my finger with a rotary cutter and had to get 4 stitches!!

I finished hand binding a quilt I started on a retreat.

I picked out fabric for a class my guild is hosting in May, a lonestar quilt.

I also picked out fabric (from my stash!!!) for a UFO that was taught by Kestrel Michaud. I will be cut on my cricut machine!

And then, there is life as well. My son started homeschool in January which has been an adjustment. We also decided to restart renovation on our home which has required a lot of time as well. Lists have been so helpful for me and have really helped me stay on track. The downside to lists are when you don’t get everything done, it can be discouraging. I have decided to just let it roll of me instead of stressing me out. Now I just move everything over to the following month and think of the tasks as guidelines to help me progress rather than a must do requirement. The whole point of this journey is to be happy and enjoy what you do, not to stress every step of the way! Sometimes I have to remind myself to live in the moment, not dwell on the past or only think about tomorrow. Having a healthy balance of all three is key!

Month 3 of Aurora finally finished!

I have also completed Months 1 and 2 of Stargazer. Both Aurora and Stargazer patterns are by Bryan House Quilts and I am loving the Freezer Paper Piecing method so far (aside from a mishap with a rotary cutter that required 4 stitches!) I am happy to finally have Month 3 of Stargazer drafted, as it’s been difficult to enlarge the blocks to 11”. Why 11” you ask? I want it to fit our king size bed and 10” would be too small and 12” would be too wide to fit on my longarm frame! 😖 so, drafting by hand has been required and I have had to fall back on all my dusty memories of geometry…

I have also finished Month 3 of (Tehachapi Mountain Quilters) my guild’s 2024 BOM quilt hosted by Robin Goodwin and Stacy Sowell! Thank you ladies for all your hard work! I am loving the quilt so far and am also hoping to make it King size for my guest room.
