Monday Hawaiian Night at Red House BBQ!!!!

On Monday nights starting at 5pm, we do our own kitchen takeover as we switch gears and completely change menus for this night.

Handcrafted Hawaiian food that you will not find anywhere near here. The menu changes somewhat weekly as I like to be able to offer new items.

Please be advised that our regular menu items are not available. We run a completely different menu on Monday nights.

We will post the menu tomorrow and we will start taking phone orders at 3:00 p.m. We stop taking phone orders at 5:00 p.m. when we open. We do this because every week we have a line out the front door and we cannot stop working to answer the phone.

People have asked me why I don't bring someone in just to answer the phone?
The reason is simple. It is to keep cost down. We offer a very good amount of food for an incredibly good price. The only way we can do that is by running with as few employees as possible. That's why we do not offer table service on Monday nights either. I basically by myself do all the prep work and all the cooking. It takes me a day and a half just to pull this off. Then it's just one or two workers, my wife, and I running the entire place. Mondays have got very busy the last couple of weeks as word is definitely getting out and we are having people driving from as far as Santa Clarita to come and eat.

So far, this is what tomorrow's menu is looking like it's going to consist of. Please be advised that we sell out of food, and certain items sell out much quicker than others.

Kalua Pork
Shoyu Chicken
Kalbi Beef
Lomi Lomi Salmon
Loco Moco (choice of hamburger patty or Spam. Choice of Hawaiian curry or brown gravy)
Pork Char Siu Manapua
Fried Coconut Shrimp (served with Hawaiian curry or sweet Gochujang)
SPAM Musubi
Kimchee (turnip and green onion)
White Rice
Hawaiian Mac Salad
Crushed Cucumber Garlic Ponzu Pickles
Seaweed Salad

Last week for dessert I made Pani Popo covered with coconut syrup, toasted macadamia nuts and shredded coconut. I made two trays of it and it sold out crazy fast. This time I will make four trays!

I will also make some Hawaiian Iced Tea,
and possibly, some POG.

I do understand that many people do not know what much of this is. Feel free to ask and if I have time I will answer. Usually Monday I am going a million miles an hour cooking all of this and have no time to look at my phone. I will do my best though to check it every once in awhile and answer any questions that I can quickly. When in doubt, there's always Google. 🤣

I hope to feed you soon

With the recent Cyclospora parasite outbreak being linked to bagged shredded lettuce and other bagged vegetables, I want to make sure everyone is clear on what we use at all three of my restaurants.

We do not use pre-cut shredded lettuce or bagged salad mix. We use whole head green leaf lettuce, whole head romaine lettuce, and whole head iceberg lettuce at my facilities to make our salads. These are all hand cut and then washed before being put into a spinner to remove excess moisture.

If you have any concerns please feel free to reach out to me directly and I will answer any questions that I can. This is why I cannot stress enough how important it is that you take much care into what you consume.

Thank you.

My apologies to all of you and especially the ones who already pre-ordered.

For tonight's Hawaiian night I'm making two trays of Pani Popo.

Kalua Pork
Shoyu Chicken
Pork/Butterfish Lau Lau

Coconut Fried Shrimp
Island Curry Shrimp
Loco Moco

Maybe some dessert. I might do some Hawaiian Bread Pudding. He really depends on how much time I have. Next week I will bring back Pork Belly Char Siu.

I know that a whole bunch of you don't know what some of these items are. All you have to do is ask. I am going to add some more fish options next week. I want to bring in some Ono!!!!

Public Service Announcement!!!!

It has come to my attention that we are having an issue with people parking in The Village Grill parking lot, while dining in Red House BBQ.

We have had a good relationship with the fine people over at The Village Grill for nearly 17 years. They have saved our butts on more than one occasion! Whenever we run out of anything like condiments or containers, they have always been more than willing to help us. This problem of people parking in their parking lot has been going on for a long time and we do try to tell our patrons,

"Do not park there. It is not our property".

Red House BBQ has its own parking lot. And although it is small, there is ample street parking too. In the last few weeks, it has become so bad that the owner of The Village Grill has stated that he will start having people towed. I honestly don't blame him. Thankfully, both of our establishments are pretty busy restaurants. It is not fair to our neighbors that our patrons utilize their parking lot, taking up valuable space for their customers. We have seen this happen even when our parking lot is only half full.

We will be making small signs to put on all of our tables, informing customers that if you are parked in The Village Grill parking lot, you can be towed at your expense.

Thank you all for your attention to this matter.
