2 years ago I was in a really bad mental and physical state. I was over 200lbs, breaking out in hives for unknown reasons, losing my hair by the handful, heart palpitations and more. I was only 30 years old and for the first time, I was genuinely concerned for my well-being, long-term. 

I tried counting calories, eating “sugar free”, low-fat,  keto etc. I tried working out in combination with these things too. Nothing was sustainable, nothing moved the scale, nothing was improving how I felt and what I was experiencing. 

I was at an all time low, until I started thinking about food differently. What is food? What actually makes up this Dorito, this Oreo, this slice of bread or tortilla? What’s in a beyond burger aside from plants? 

In a last ditch effort to try and get me out of the hole I was in, I looked into those ingredients and I started to learn about what real food is, what all the ingredients of a Dorito and why they so significantly impact our health negatively. 

I went to my husband (who thought I was crazy) and told him we are cutting s**d oils and refined sugars immediately and witching to 100% grassfed beef, organic produce, and 100% grassfed milk. 

I also decided that I would not change anything else in my lifestyle when testing this out-no workouts, not paying attention to calories. Simply eating higher quality, less processed snacks and more whole foods and red meat. 
The result: 

In the first 3 months I lost 15 pounds!! 🥹 My scale didn’t budge below 200lbs for 3 years! 😧 I had more energy too. 

In less than a year I was below my pre pregnancy weight. I wasn’t breaking out in hives every other day and I could tell my most was healing. 

That’s when I realized that food comes first, what we eat matter. If we nourish our bodies, they will fix themselves and take care of us. 

This is why I’m so passionate about it, and I believe everyone should have an understanding of food. Too many of us have forgotten. Have the knowledge and make an informed decision for yourself. 🖤

Not sure where to start when trying to transition to a healthier lifestyle? ☹️

Don’t worry, I got you. 😉 

When you run out of what you have, Here are 5 easy swaps you can make in your pantry for a healthier one: 

1. Get s**d oils out and replace them with healthy animal-based saturated fats like butter, tallow and ghee 
 -Most ultra processed, packaged foods have s**d oils in them. They are linked to several chronic health conditions, not heart healthy, and very high in omega 6 polyunsaturated fats. Yes, our body needs a small amount…but based on the standard American diet, we are exceeding that limit substantially. 
2.Let’s just let sodas go. They’re addicting,  there is absolutely nothing benefiting you from them. I get it, we all want a “treat” and most people complain about water, but we are focusing on giving our body what it needs to serve us well. So swap it out with a sparkling water (preferably from a glass bottle), or a sparkling flavored water with just fruit juice, or my favorite, kombucha-lots of flavor and bodily benefits. 
3. Refined processed sugar (raw or organic)—The average American consumes about 17 teaspoons of sugar per day—that’s insane!
 - Let’s stick with real, natural sweeteners in real fruits—honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar and date sugar.
4. Those empty calorie chips are more than empty calories. They’re full of toxins—the previously mentioned s**d oils, artificial dyes and flavors, and more…
 -I get it, I love me a good chip—trust me. So level it up and get yourself a s**d oil free one without the listed above. They taste amazing and some cost about the same. More and more are  becoming available in most stores now too.
