Jeff Macomber on Managing Electronic Health Records 09/28/2026

Cybercriminals don't target practices at random. Lose access to patient records, and appointments and surgeries get canceled that same week. Few practices can absorb that.

On ExtraMile by WisdomPlexus, Sightview CTO Jeff Macomber explains what that pressure looks like from the inside:

- Why healthcare data is so valuable to attackers, long after a breach
- How has changed phishing
- Why practices now judge vendors on security, not just product fit

Worth 20 minutes if you're responsible for protecting a practice. 🎧 Listen now:

Jeff Macomber on Managing Electronic Health Records Sightview Software's CTO, Jeff Macomber sheds light on the emergence of electronic health record and practice management in eyecare.

It's our favorite time of the week!
And we love this because the best part of building something is the people you get to build it with. Thank you, Liz, for the care and the dedication that you bring to work, week after week.

Why MIPS Is Not A Year-End Exercise For Eye Care 09/21/2026

The most expensive mistake is a good question asked too late. Heads up, the calendar has already made a few decisions for you:

- October 3 is the last date to start a continuous 90-day Improvement Activities period for 2026, per CMS. If your activities are not selected and documented yet, that window is closing.
- Promoting Interoperability is 25% of your traditional MIPS final score, and CMS requires 180 continuous days of data collection in certified EHR technology.
- Provider eligibility can change mid-year, and CMS reviews it at both the TIN and NPI level. Worth a second look if you have added clinicians or bill across more than one TIN.

Sightview's Holly Black walks through the full checklist in Healthcare Business Today. Read the full article here:

Why MIPS Is Not A Year-End Exercise For Eye Care Eye care practices should review MIPS performance before year-end to address quality measures, EHR workflows, eligibility and reporting requirements.
