The Animal Control Unit’s primary role is to proactively limit the number of stray animals running at large in the City of Sumter.
This page is managed by volunteers to post found pets and network for adoption/rescue. We do not handle complaints or get involved with issues that need to be addressed by law enforcement. If you need to talk to Animal Control to file an animal complaint, report an animal, or require assistance otherwise, please call the shelter at 436-2066. If you have an animal emergency outside of normal business hours, contact the Sumter County Sheriff's Department.

Meet Wesley! Wesley is just a puppy and is ready to find a family of his own! This adorable little guy is a 4–5-month-old male weighing 28 pounds, and he is cute as a button! Wesley was found wandering alone through a neighborhood, clearly lost. Sadly, no one has come forward to claim him, so now this precious puppy is looking for a new family to call his own. Wesley is a puppy in every way—sweet, playful, curious, and full of personality! He will need the time, patience, training, and guidance that every young puppy needs, but in return, he will give his family plenty of laughs, lots of love, and a lifetime of companionship. Wesley is waiting for his forever family! SAVINGSUMTERSTRAYS.COM/ADOPT
