Today SBHS participated in National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day. It is observed annually on August 21 to remember lives lost to illicit fentanyl, support affected families, and warn the public about the dangers of synthetic opioids and counterfeit pills. We provided resources on our Agency as other information in our community. Thanks to YWCA of the Upper Lowlands, Clarendon Behavioral Health Services, Durant Children's Center SC Vocational Rehabilitation for the support.

On August 20, 2026 SBHS was at Thomas Sumter Academy for their volleyball games versus Carolina Academy. Those in attendance received our custom Volleyballs that spread the message "Set Goals Not Drugs" Thanks to Headmaster Ben Herod for the invite.

On August 19, SBHS was on the campus of Morris College for their Health and Resource Fair. We provided Students information about or Agency. Students wore our "Impaired Goggles" to demonstrate different levels of impairment.

Overdose does not discriminate. Too often, assumptions about who experiences an overdose can get in the way of understanding. This IOAD, let's focus on the facts, recognize our shared humanity, and support approaches that keep people safe.

On August 14, 26, We were provided with treats from a special person thanking our Staff for the hardwork and dedication to our Sumter Family.

On August 12, 2026 SBHS was at Christmas Pharmacy. We provided Narcan, Deterra and medication Lockboxes. Thanks to Mr. Christmas and staff. We also provide these items for FREE at our office located at 755 Electric Drive Sumter SC.

This month, we wear purple to remember those we've lost, support those still fighting, celebrate those in recovery, and remind everyone that hope is always possible.

The Georgetown Police Department's Community Recovery Support Team (CRST) is committed to helping individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder. Through partnerships like Operation Hope – Angel Program, Voices of Hope, the WEDCO District Health Department, and the 14th Judicial Circuit Drug Court, our team helps connect people with treatment, transportation, recovery resources, and peer support—without judgment.
