I didn’t know this - love these birds

Have you ever seen sandhill cranes and wondered why some have more rust colored feathers, while others are fully gray?! 🤔

A full gray, feathered body with a red patched forehead is the natural coloring for adult sandhill cranes. The reddish, brown color seen below is due to that crane preening its feathers with iron-rich mud! They do this during breeding & nesting season to help with camouflage.

How amazing are these birds! 🤩

My painting titled “Spirit Weaver” 30 x 24 oil on canvas will be in the Timeless Martin-A Centennial Celebration Art Show Hosted by Martin Arts. the painting is of the Savanna’s preserve in an effort to capture the essence of the Solstice and the Equinox and the beauty of the Flotida parks . In 2013 There was a need to raise money for the park and the locals got together to create fund raising Drum circle celebrations to benefit the Park. The drum circles were started by a local well loved Shaman named Spirit Weaver and a local drumming facilitator Kevin Beatkeeper. The drum circle celebrations are large family events still celebrated today. Now you will find Kevin Beatkeeper drum circle leader and Shaman Moon Hawk a student of Spirit Weaver and the Park Rangers volunteering their time to help our beloved parks each solstice and equinox I invite you to attend they are fun! !! The show is full of many wonderful local artist - Please come to the Opening reception tomorrow at 5:30-7:00 - it’s going to be beautiful!
