To clarify what occurred during yesterday’s tragic incident, the investigation has determined that an 83-year-old driver and owner of the vehicle was driving his truck into a service bay at the business. As the driver drove onto a ramp to have the vehicle serviced, he accelerated forward, striking a technician and pinning him against a concrete wall.

Tragically, Bryan Thomas Giarrantano, 24,
sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Stuart Police Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Additionally, OSHA is conducting its own investigation, as the incident occurred in a workplace setting.

The business owners and staff fully cooperated with our investigation while also coping with the tragic loss of a valued employee. We appreciate their assistance during this difficult time.

Our sincere condolences remain with the victim’s family, friends, coworkers, and all those affected by this tragedy.

STUART POLICE MAKE UNUSUAL BUST

For years, law enforcement has unfairly taken the blame for America's love affair with donuts.

Well, today we have the photographic evidence to clear our name once and for all.
Our undercover surveillance team caught our friends at Stuart Fire Rescue red-handed unloading a fresh donut delivery.

Looks like the shoe is on the other foot now....

Happy National Donut Day to everyone, especially our Fire Rescue partners. Enjoy those donuts... your secret is safe with us.

On May 1, 2026, the Stuart Police Department received a report involving a vehicle that had been purchased using fraudulent funds. Detectives immediately launched an investigation into the transaction and the circumstances surrounding the purchase.

During the investigation, detectives identified Giuseppe Prestigiacomo as the suspect. Investigators determined that Prestigiacomo allegedly used the personal information of an 87-year-old victim, including the victim’s credit card and driver's license information, to make a down payment on a vehicle for himself. Detectives learned that Prestigiacomo had obtained the victim’s information while employed by an air conditioning company.

As a result of the investigation, Prestigiacomo was charged with two counts of Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information and one count of Grand Theft.

Newest Members of the Special Response Team – SRT Medics

The City of Stuart, Stuart Police Department, and Stuart Fire Rescue, along with Police Chief Zenelovic and Fire Chief Felicione, are proud to announce the first medics to become part of the Police Department’s Special Response Team.

These specially trained paramedics are now able to make entry into active scenes to assist officers and render aid to officers, victims, or suspects during high-priority incidents. The medics will train alongside the Police Department’s Special Response Team and were required to complete physical aptitude testing, fi****ms qualifications, and selection processes similar to those required of police officers.

This collaboration will allow critical medical services to be rendered without delay, even while a scene remains active. The partnership has been a long and rewarding process, and we are grateful to see it come to fruition.

Congratulations to these dedicated professionals on this important achievement and commitment to serving our community.
