Our organization A Girl and a Gun is more than just about shooting! We are actively involved in our community and even more importanty, in my opinion, we are a fellowship of women who support each other in personal growth, in times of trials/challenges/ medical situations. This is a community of women supporting each other and I am so blessed to be apart of this great group!

This guy is one of the best volunteers we have at LAHIA!! He washes dishes, does laundry, preps food in the kitchen and takes out the garbage at the end of his shift. I cannot say enough good words for Tim!!! And let me just add his volunteer service isn’t convenient for him! He doesn’t have a car so he rides his electric bike rain or shine. Be like Tim!! He is making a difference in the world…one little act of service at a time. ❤️❤️
We love showing off our volunteers around here... mostly because we’ve got the most dedicated and coolest crew ever. 😉
This month, we’re excited to highlight this guy right here — Timothy Glennon
🥳🎉
When he's not running around all over Martin County selling homes, or bragging about being a proud grandpa, Tim’s hanging out with us at LAHIA. You’ll catch him supervising our showers and being a towel-folding extraordinaire in the Hygiene Cottage on Mondays, channeling his inner chef while prepping dinner on Tuesdays, rocking the dishwashing station on Thursdays, and, of course, expertly taste-testing cookies in the dining room between shifts. And if that’s not enough, he’s also volunteering his time ministering at the God Pod at the county jail on Wednesdays! 🙏🏻💕
This guy is a force to be reckoned with — we seriously can’t thank you enough for everything you do, Tim!!! Thank you for giving back in all the ways you do, across all our departments. You are greatly appreciated! 🤩
Next time you see Tim around, don’t forget to give him a high-five, a smile, or just say thanks for being such an awesome part of the team! 🤗🥰

FALL NEWSLETTER - Good News - Part 1
The pandemic was unable to slow down progress at LAHIA! Since July 1st, 43 homeless or nearly homeless people now have sustainable housing!
Over the next week, we will share 3 of the success stories resulting from the hard work of a growing staff, resilient volunteers, and consistent donor support.
Here is Walter's story:
When Walter first arrived at LAHIA in early June, 2020, he was homeless and estranged from his family members. After getting to know Walter and his needs, LAHIA was able to help him receive his SSDI and food stamps. This in turn allowed LAHIA to help Walter obtain affordable housing that he will be able to maintain and a roommate to share the costs. He is blissfully content with his much needed and well-deserved new residence. He is especially elated with the “full-sized bathtub”.
Sometimes it’s the simple things that are the sweetest and for this true minimalist it was a pleasant surprise!

GOOD NEWS - Part 2
Raymond moved to Florida from Kentucky with a friend for a job opportunity. Unfortunately, the friendship didn’t last causing Raymond to become homeless. Luckily for him, he was proactive and asked LAHIA for help. Along with St. Vincent de Paul, we were able to provide it! Raymond was given a Greyhound Bus ticket from Fort Pierce, FL to his hometown in Kentucky where his family resides.
Raymond is an entry level mechanic and already has a job lined up for himself upon his return home. All he needed to fulfill this new life direction was a little hope and little help!
