We're wrapping up the growing season for the Christmas trees. Overall it's been a good year of growing with many trees growing over a foot taller. Conifers generally grow taller from a single "leader". That's what gives them there overall triangular/pyramidal shape.
However, not all trees grow or survive the same. There are always some trees that don't survive and some that struggle. A number of things impact trees - root location (sometimes they get turned up or placed on top of a rock during planting), insect damage, browsing by deer or rabbits, precipitation, nutrient availability, etc.
