Save The Rinks/Warming House Stevens Point

Just to clarify, the membership we are asking for here simply means being a part of this very informal friends group made up of people who are passionate about this project and willing to help get the word out to family, friends, neighbors and whoever; not only for awareness, but also to encourage involvement.

No signatures or lifetime commitments necessary, just a list of volunteer member names and emails so we can communicate needs, thank you’s, updates, etc. Some may wish to participate further by volunteering for other tasks as the need arises.
We are grateful for all the involvement last year, writing letters, signing petition, helping to get those signatures, taking the Parks Dept survey, attending meetings, speaking at those meetings and in all the other ways.

The first hurdle is over, the final master plan includes keeping the Ice and Hockey Rinks as well as the Parker Building, where they are. Let’s take it to the next level.

We have some exciting news to share. Behind the scenes we have been working very hard meeting with architects, and much more.

We are looking for members to join us in very large project. The community is important to us along with all you who have supported saving both ice rinks and the Parker Building!

As we move forward the Warming House is going to also change, to better serve the park. We are remodeling and repurposing the Parker Building (Warming House) and will need your help. Details to follow!

It is with great sadness. I announce the passing of Rachel Phillip, she and her son were a huge staple in saving the outdoor ice skating rinks and Parker Building. She leaves beyond two beautiful sons. Carl created our very own website.

I am so happy to announce this past Wednesday evening we added week night hours to our beloved outdoor hockey rink and ice skating rink Monday-Thursday!

Excited for those who needed the warming house “Parker Building” open we now have the building open 7 days a week with specific hours! Hats of to our Parks Department!!!

Thank you to all of you who reached out and requested those days be open for children to change their skates and have indoor restrooms available.

HUGE EXCITED UPDATE:
We have week hours now at the Parker Building “Warming House” for our beloved ice skating rinks!!! Hats off to the Park Department for adding in, the city will staff Monday-Thursday Hours!!! Beyond excited and grateful!!!!

MEETING TOMORROW NIGHT 6:30! Please if you would like to share your experience with needing the warming house open during the week and adding more hours and or reached out this past winter season I’d love to see you there.

We are in need of the Warming House being open every evening during the week while possibly hiring one to two skate guards if need be. We would love to hear from you and all your input since this was one of the busiest seasons we’ve ever seen at the park using both ice-skating rinks.
