Some sessions are just worth the wait. 🥹💛

The Budsberg family and I actually had this session planned all the way back LAST FALL… but you know how life goes. 😂 Plans changed, things came up, and after rescheduling not once, not twice, but THREE times, we finally made it happen this summer.

And I think it was meant to happen exactly when it did. ✨

We ended up with the most beautiful summer day for Dayton, Ashley, Iyla & Kylie. Warm sunshine, lots of cuddles, sweet little moments, and SO much love between this family. 🥰

And can we talk about these girls?! 😍 Iyla and Kylie are absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and watching their personalities come through in front of my camera was the sweetest.

Family sessions aren't about everyone being perfectly posed and looking at the camera the entire time. They're about the cuddles. The giggles. The way your babies fit into your arms right now. The little looks between each other. All those tiny moments that someday won't feel so tiny anymore. ❤️

A little studio update 🤎

I was finally able to get into my studio today and really start going through everything.

Unfortunately, there is a lot more damage to the walls and floors than we originally expected, along with more of my things being damaged than we first realized. 😔 We found more items today that were wet, mildewy, and completely ruined.

One of those things was my newborn storage shelf, which was also broken by the restoration team. I’m not going to lie… that one broke me. I cried. 😭 I know it’s “just a shelf,” but when you’re already looking at so much damage to something you’ve worked SO hard to build, every additional thing feels like another punch to the gut.

BUT… there is some good news!! 🤎

Half of my studio didn’t get hit at all! 🙌🏻

Today, my brother-in-law Dustin and my best friend Nevada came and helped me clean, move things around, and get the studio to a point where I can at least start doing some sessions again. I seriously cannot thank you guys enough for showing up and helping me today. I appreciate you both SO much. 🤎

For right now, I am still able to do sitter and cake smash sessions in the studio! 🎂

Unfortunately, I am not currently able to do newborn or family sessions in-studio because those areas were affected.

But this is where I have to brag about our amazing photographer community for a second. 🥹

Ashley Herek reached out and offered me the use of her studio space for any of my newborn babies who decide to make their grand entrance over the next few weeks. 😭🤎 Ashley, THANK YOU. Seriously. The fact that you were willing to open your space to me and my clients without hesitation means more than you know.

THIS is why I love our photographer community. We may technically all be “competition,” but when something like this happens, people show up for each other. And I will never forget that. 🖤

There’s still a lot to figure out. There’s a lot that needs to be repaired, replaced, cleaned, and rebuilt. And I’m sure there will probably be a few more tears along the way.

But… I shall adapt and keep on keeping. 💪🏻

Block Photography is still here. I’m still shooting. I’m still editing. I’m still doing what I love. We’re just going to have to get a little creative for a while. 😂🖤

I don’t even really know how to write this post. 😔

Over the weekend, the business above my studio had a washing machine malfunction. It continuously filled with water for THREE DAYS STRAIGHT, flooding the building and causing significant water damage to my studio.

To say I’m heartbroken doesn’t even begin to cover it.

I’ve cried about as much as I think my body will physically allow. Walking into my studio and seeing everything I’ve worked so incredibly hard for in shambles… there really aren’t words for that feeling.

This studio isn’t just four walls to me. I have poured years of my life, my heart, my time, and so much work into creating this space. Every little corner has been built into something I’m proud of—a place where I get to create, snuggle your babies, watch your families grow, and capture some of the biggest moments of your lives.

And just like that, everything changed.

Unfortunately, all in-studio sessions are on hold for the time being while we figure out the extent of the damage and what comes next. If you currently have an in-studio session scheduled with me, I will be reaching out to you directly as soon as I have a better idea of the timeline.

My heart also absolutely breaks for Diamond Lounge, Spilled Ink, and the other businesses in our building that were affected by this disaster. So many small businesses and so much hard work were impacted.

I’m overwhelmed. I’m devastated. And right now, I’m just trying to take it one day at a time.

But Block Photography isn’t going anywhere. 🤎
I just have one hell of a mess to clean up first. 😔

I could NOT wait to share this sneak peek because COME ONNNN. 😍 One minute we’re capturing all the sweet newlywed moments, the next there’s tires smoking, trucks showing off, and then Mother Nature decides to casually drop one of the prettiest sunsets on us.

Like… excuse me?! 🤌🏼🔥

But as freaking cool as these photos are, the best part of the entire day was Josh + Jade. Their love, their laughter, and just how genuinely HAPPY they were to finally be husband + wife. 🤍

This wedding was 100% THEM, and those are always my favorite days to photograph.

Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Herman!! 🥂🖤

Now excuse me while I go stare at these photos approximately 472 more times. 😂

Nothing like sitting down, ready to be ✨productive✨… and your computer says:

Absolutely not. 😂💀

Photoshop needs an update.
Camera Raw needs an update.
Lightroom needs an update.
The trash is apparently deleting approximately 47 million things. 😂

Meanwhile I’m just sitting here like… I HAVE PHOTOS TO EDIT. 😭📸

Technology is the worstttttt. And somehow it always knows when you actually have work to do. 😂

You know you’re a little too obsessed with the black & yellow utility tote aesthetic when even your SD cards have their own mini one. 😂💀

Like… was this necessary? Absolutely not.
Did I need it immediately? Obviously. 😂

Tiny tote. Ridiculous amount of happiness.

And honestly, the fact that it actually holds my SD cards perfectly just makes it even better. 😂📸

Please tell me I’m not the only person who buys miniature versions of things just because THEY’RE MINI. 😭😂
