Oh, long stapler, I behold thee!
You are a true workhorse,
sitting quietly, hidden in the cabinetry of the Library Suite.
Your long arm reaches patiently
to gather the papers,
to be bound,
gently stapled.
And the result? Perfect togetherness.
Papers of wisdom,
joined as they were meant to be.

Banned Books Week begins today!
This year’s theme, “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read,” reminds us that people should have the opportunity to read, encounter different perspectives, and make judgments for themselves.
In our latest blog post, we look at intellectual freedom and an interesting historical example with a connection to our Archives: Harriet Beecher Stowe’s "A Key to Uncle Tom’s Cabin," which we hold in our collection.
Follow along this week as we highlight challenged books and celebrate the freedom to read.

Homecoming is getting closer, and so is our next trip into UWSP history!
Last week, we went back to the earliest days of the university and its first library in Old Main. This week, Cheyenne continues our three-part series with “History of the Wisconsin and Central State College Library.”
As the institution evolved from a Normal School into Wisconsin State Teachers College and later Wisconsin State College, the library was changing. Growing enrollment, expanding academic programs, and an increasing collection all shaped what students needed from their campus library.
In Part 2, Cheyenne takes us through this period of growth and change and the library’s evolving role at the center of campus life.
Don’t forget, our Archives team will be at the Homecoming HotSpot on Oct. 10, sharing pieces of Pointer history.
