This week's Portage County Public Library Staff Pick is the "Dearly Beloathed" duology by Brigitte Knightley. "The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy" and "The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy".

"Loyalties are tested when a healer and an assassin from enemy sides are forced to work together and find the source of two deadly diseases, all while resisting the urge to kill each other-and, just maybe, fall in love." - NoveList

"Hilarious, action filled, fresh, and entertaining with a unique magic system. This enemies to lovers romance duology is just the thing for readers looking for a well written 'romantacy' that doesn't take itself too seriously (in all the right ways). Fans of Terry Pratchett will enjoy the irreverent wit and charming world building"- PCPL Staff Member

If you’re one of our many Libby users, this announcement is for you! Starting the week of October 12, you will now need to use your LINKcat PIN to log into Libby, as well. This will be the same PIN you use to access our online catalog, the library computers, and the self-checkouts at the Stevens Point Branch. If you’re having trouble remembering your PIN, no worries; just call or stop in to your local branch so one of our helpful staff can reset it for you. This shouldn’t change how you use Libby; all the e-books and audiobooks you love will still be available, there will just be an extra layer of security on your account! Please direct any questions towards your local library staff, and mark the calendar for Monday, October 12 so you don’t miss this important update!

Did you know that the Rosholt, Plover, and Stevens Point branch Libraries all have rooms that you can use for meetings, studying, or even crafts! Rosholt patron Pat used our tables to lay out and pin her beautiful rainbow quilt.

Want to use one of our meeting or study rooms? Call individual branches to confirm availability and schedule.

Are you familiar with our Lucky Day section? These shelves are a special feature of all of our branches, often found near the “new” sections, and are designed to help get readers the books they want as quickly as possible. If you’ve ever tried to place a hold on a new or popular release, you know how long the waits can be to finally get it for yourself. The books in this collection can help eliminate that wait! Filled with copies of some of our most read and highly-anticipated books, this collection is in-house checkout only, meaning these copies don’t circulate for holds and can only be picked up from the shelf in the library. Each one has a limited checkout time with no renewals available either, which gets these books back out on the shelf for others as soon as they return. If you’re looking for the latest bestsellers and have some spare reading time, then the books gathered here may be well worth a look! Stop by any of our branches to check out the collection, and enjoy “skipping the line” for new titles from some of your favorite authors!

As you may have noticed, the city will be doing some construction around the Stevens Point Branch’s Main Street Entrance this week, starting Monday, September 28. Though this entrance is closed due to the construction, the library is still open for normal hours! The entrance on the Clark Street (aka parking lot) side will be wide open and available for patron use. Thankfully, the work isn’t likely to take long, so the detour to our other door should only be required for a short time. We hope to see you continuing to come visit us during this brief period of work!

Join us for the Local Author Fair, now until 10:30!

CWBF: "Unpasteurized Inga" with Author Inga Orth | Marathon County Public Library (MCPL) 09/25/2026

You might recognize Inga Orth as the host of the former Wisconsin Public Television show "Around the Farm Table," and you can join us in Stevens Point on Saturday night to learn more about the woman behind the show!
We're thrilled to host Inga as she shares some of her own life experiences detailed in a new memoir, "Unpasteurized Inga," published earlier this year by Little Creek Press. You won't want to miss her perspectives on the TV show, running her own farm and business, and a more personal side we never saw on television.
This free event, which is part of the Central Wisconsin Book Festival, begins at 7pm at the Stevens Point Branch. Click the link below for more information.

Mother-daughter duo Laura Kostelnik Biskupic and Katherine Biskupic will discuss share stories from their book, "Lambeau Ladies: The Boundary-Breaking Women Behind Lombardi’s Packers,” published earlier this year.An added bonus: A couple of these boundary breakers will also join us to talk about their experiences in person!
This free event is part of the Central Wisconsin Book Festival and begins at 11am at our Stevens Point Branch. A Q&A and signing will follow the talk.
