Studying abroad In New Zealand has overall been an amazing experience and I highly recommend taking the opportunity to study abroad if you are able! Kia ora! It’s Emily again back for day 6 of New Zealand. Today I interviewed some of my friends about their favorite part of New Zealand and the University of Canterbury! The most common answer was the nature/outdoors! Other answers included the layout of the campus and making new friends. Being that nature was the most common answer, I thought I would share some nature photos from my adventures in New Zealand so far! Hopefully I’ll see you tomorrow for the final day of my New Zealand takeover where I will be sharing my thoughts on my study abroad adventure so far!

Kia Ora! It’s Emily back for day 4 from New Zealand. Today I am talking about everything new including new experiences, transportation, restaurants, and more! I have been on a lot of fun adventures while in New Zealand including local hikes and a two week trip to Australia! Domestic flights in Australia and New Zealand are very cheap compared to US domestic flights making it easy to travel once you are in the country!

Photo 1: Sydney Botanic Gardens
I went to Sydney, Australia during spring break and got to walk around the beautiful botanic gardens located next to the Sydney opera house. They were especially beautiful because it is the start of spring in the southern hemisphere so everything was in bloom!



Photo 2: The Great Barrier Reef
One of my favorite new experiences was scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef over spring break in Cairns, Australia. It was the most surreal experience of my life, I highly recommend!

Photo 3: Bondi Beach
When I was in Australia I got to experience so many new beautiful beaches! One of my favorites was Bondi Beach. It was absolutely gorgeous and very busy. Lots of people surfing, swimming, tanning, and walking around the beach town.

Photo 4: Rugby
I wanted to make sure I saw at least one rugby game while in New Zealand. Rugby is a very popular sport, it has some similarities to American football but is a super unique game that was really fun to watch! This game was Christchurch vs. Wellington.

Photo 5: Godley Head Track - Christchurch
This was the first hike I did in New Zealand. The bus takes you just 2 miles short of the trail head. We decided to walk the 2 miles to the trail head but if you can we would recommend trying to uber to the trail head because it is nearly 1.5 miles straight uphill and then .5 straight downhill combined with the hike and then doing that back to the bus stop because no uber would pick us up from the trail head parking lot. It was so beautiful and very much worth it.

This hike was very strenuous and we didn’t make it the whole way but it was gorgeous! It is almost completely uphill for near 4 miles. It was foggy when we went but stil
