Wisconsin skateboarders see renewed hope for easing limits with bipartisan support With a new bill before the state Legislature, skateboarders in Wisconsin are advocating for acceptance and new skateparks with the same persistence it takes to learn a trick after hundreds of tries.

Thanks to the Stevens Point Parks Department, the skatepark will reopen on a LIMITED, TRIAL basis on THE MORNING OF APRIL 24th.
READ the attached press release and abide by it.
Your ability to do so determines if it will remain open.
The rules:
Maximum of 10 park users at a time.
Give each other space.
No congregating on the top bench.
Pretty simple.
The park will be monitored for compliance.
If too many people are at the park at one time, come back later.
If you've been there a while, leave so someone else can have a session.
No lurking, no loitering, no spectators.
If too many people are continually at the park, it WILL be closed and it will be filled.
Please show that the skatepark community can be responsible and not waste this opportunity. These are weird times, and we just have to roll with it-no big deal.
And yeah, the park is still closed until FRIDAY, so please respect that.

USC study explores how skateboarding culture can contribute to success

The Junior Women's Club, stepping up with a donation to the future skatepark expansion!

A few members of the Junior Women's Club met up with John Pearson and Mark Vicker of the Stevens Point Skate park to present a check for 1089.00. The funding will go towards the expansion of the current park by adding on a flat section.

Here are the details for the expansion:

-Approximately 3500-4000 square foot footprint that will connect seamlessly to the existing skatepark
-Incorporating features commonly found in urban settings
-Featuring elements inspired by both classic Stevens Point skate spots, as well as from spots from around the world.
-Integrated graphic and 3D art from local artists
-An inspired aesthetic to compliment and celebrate our sweet riverfront location
-Simple, clean and spacious design
-Locally designed, sourced and built! Keeping all funds within the community!

We are truly grateful to have this skate park in our community and we are looking forward to the expansion.

If you would like to help the cause, tax deductible donations can be made through the City Treasurer, made out to: City of Stevens Point... just be sure to put "SKATEPARK" IN THE MEMO LINE OF THE CHECK, or they won't get the funds! Donations are still tax deductible, so ask your employers about matching.
