Be an Athlete
Early in my life and career, I was a typical American guy: "How much do you bench?" and far too worried about mirror muscles. (Parents of teenage boys, let's hope it's just a phase.)
As I was educated by my mentors, I learned that we train—we don't just "work out." We train for performance and health; mirror muscles are just a side effect of proper training and nutrition. I’m thankful my mentors taught me the "why." In the words of Kenny Powers, "I'm not trying to be the best at exercising."
I still train to be an athlete. I usually follow the training programs one of my teams are doing so I know what they’re going through, stay athletic, and remain healthy. I train to stay competitive in PE class dodgeball and basketball games I jump into, for the staff volleyball team during homecoming week. I love to compete.
I’ve also played amateur baseball on and off since I was 15. Some people say I’m too old, but as long as I can perform at a high level and contribute, I’ll keep playing. After six years at Pacelli, I’m now playing alongside Pacelli alumni Peyton Flees and Keltin Opper for the Eland Engineers. We finished the regular season 11-1, earning the #1 seed in the BABA North Division.
This past week in the first round of the BABA playoffs, the Pacelli guys got it done:
• Peyton Flees: 4-5, 2B, 3 R, 2 SB, 2 RBI
• Charlie Woida: 3-4, BB, 2x2B, HR, 6 RBI
Round 2 of the BABA Playoffs: Eland vs. Antigo in Eland
Sunday, August 23rd at 1:30 PM
BE AN ATHLETE.

Tuesday I’ll have an open gym lift for high schoolers from 2-4pm.

If anyone is looking to on board your youth athlete with a 1 on 1 session before they start with group training to make them feel more comfortable I’d be available after 4pm on Tuesday and after 3pm on Wednesday & Thursday.

Tuesday, August 25th will be the start of my youth training.
There will be a ladies training group at 11am on Monday and Wednesday. Possibly another ladies group at 4:15pm on Thursdays if there is enough interest.

Let me know if you have any questions with the offerings.

2026 was the 6th year of running my summer camp in Stevens Point. These 7 athletes have been with me every year.
Thank you for trusting me and working hard.

At the elite level, the primary focus is winning. In a high school setting, however, the priority shifts to development—both athletic and personal. High school students are at a critical, highly influential stage in their lives, and witnessing their growth creates some of the most meaningful moments of my career.
I first watched this girl on stage during the Aladdin play and noticed she was hilarious. Then I had her in Health Class and found out she was smart and more about her sense of humor. She then joined my Fitness Class. She took a liking to the training and has always worked hard. She then decided to join my summer camp and that influenced two others to join. Now she’s the reason her dad is getting a gym membership.
Health truly is wealth. Seeing a student discover the lifelong benefits of physical activity—and inspire her family and friends along the way—ranks among the most memorable highlights of my career.

I’ve kept my t-shirts pretty much the same every year but one. My first year of teaching I had only two classes: Personal Finance and a Business class. So I picked up the long term sub duty of Middle School Art teacher every Friday morning (another one of those things I didn’t think I’d have on my resume). I had the students help me make a new design that year. I’m guessing the kids would have loved to use AI on this.

6+ years ago I moved to the Stevens Point area. Before moving I emailed high schools and colleges trying to find a role in Strength and Conditioning. I only got a couple of responses. I took the only opportunity presented to me at Pacelli to be the after school Fitness Director. To fill my day up I started subbing, mainly at the Early Childhood Center working in the 3.5 and 4yr old rooms. Then a teacher quit and I ended up being the lead teacher in the 3.5 yr old room. An experience I never thought I would have. Now the cool part is I’ve stayed at Pacelli for over 6 years and built a program and now I’m starting to see some of those little kids working with me in the weight room.
