Spiritual Direction Certificate Program DMU

Pray, hope, and don’t worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.” - St. Padre Pio | Worry drains our peace, but trust restores it. Today, release what you’re carrying and lean into the mercy of God who hears every prayer, even the ones you can’t find words for. What are you placing in God’s hands today?
“O my God, teach me to be generous... - St. Ignatius of Loyola | True generosity isn’t about what we give, but how fully we surrender our will to God. St. Ignatius reminds us that love is proven in action, even when it costs us something. Where is God inviting you to be more generous today?

Why the School of Spiritual Direction? Because walking with another soul toward God is sacred work, and it deserves real formation.

⛪ Faithful to the Church: Our formation is rooted in the Catholic spiritual tradition and serves the Church's mission of accompanying souls toward deeper union with God.

🕊️ In Service of One Another: Spiritual direction is a ministry of accompaniment. Our students and alumni serve in parishes, retreat centers, and private practices, and trained directors can keep growing through ongoing group supervision.

🙏 Attentive to the Holy Spirit: Everything begins with listening. The School exists to nurture a culture of attentive listening to the Holy Spirit, first in your own life and then in the lives of those you accompany.

✨ Integrating Human & Spiritual Formation: Courses like Life in Christ and Spiritual Direction and Human Development for Spiritual Growth form the whole person, because spiritual growth and human maturity go hand in hand.

Wherever you are on the journey, there's a place to begin. Foundational courses are open to anyone seeking a deeper interior life. The Spiritual Direction Certificate is for those called to accompany others, and the Spiritual Direction Supervisor Certificate is for experienced directors.

What the world rejects, God can redeem. Many of us carry wounds from rejection, disappointment, or failure. Yet God has a way of using those very experiences to build something beautiful. Nothing is wasted in His hands.

By age 10, St. Thérèse of Lisieux had lost all three women she loved as mothers.

Her wet nurse, Rose, cared for her as an infant. Her mother, Zélie, died when Thérèse was four. Her sister Pauline, who stepped in as a second mother, left home to enter the Carmelite convent. Soon after, Thérèse fell into a mysterious illness—hallucinations, tremors, and fear so severe she couldn't be left alone. Her doctor couldn't name it.

On Pentecost Sunday in 1883, her sisters knelt by her bed and prayed before a statue of Our Lady. Thérèse saw the Blessed Virgin smile at her, and the illness lifted.

Most healing won't look like hers. But the Little Flower's story is a reminder of why DMU forms mental health professionals who make room for the Divine Physician to work alongside the care they give.

Today, October 1, the Church celebrates her feast. St. Thérèse is one of the eight patrons of Divine Mercy University.

St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, pray for us. 🌹

St. Thérèse shows us that holiness doesn’t require greatness in the eyes of the world—just love in the smallest things.

Her “little way” is a reminder that even the most ordinary moments can become extraordinary when offered with love.

Do small things with great love. That’s the invitation today.

God looks beyond appearances. The Gospel reminds us that humility and repentance matter more than outward status. No one is beyond God's mercy, and no one is excluded from His invitation. His grace is available to all who are willing to receive it.

🔥 “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” – St. Catherine of Siena
You were created with purpose. Let that purpose shine boldly.

Comparison steals joy. When we focus on what others have received, we often miss the blessings God has already placed in our own lives. God's generosity is not limited. His grace is abundant enough for everyone. What blessing are you especially grateful for today?

The School of Spiritual Direction at Divine Mercy University is a place of encounter, formation, and discernment.

Every course and conversation is centered on helping individuals respond more fully to God’s grace, while forming those called to accompany others with compassion, humility, and wisdom.

Our program is academically rigorous—comparable to graduate-level education—and firmly rooted in the Catholic faith.

Through the integration of human and spiritual formation, we help shape individuals who are attentive to the Holy Spirit and grounded in service to others.

Whether discerning a vocation or seeking deeper spiritual growth, this formation journey is an act of love for the Church and for souls.

Forgiveness can be difficult. It doesn't mean forgetting. It doesn't excuse wrongdoing. But it does free us from carrying bitterness that weighs down our hearts. Jesus calls us to forgive because He knows the healing that follows. Is there someone you need to forgive today?
