February 9th the after-school kids made sports veggie skewers (and dipped them in a bit of Aldi ranch if desired).
Also some decided to make up a Green St. Louis Machine cheer! They may get to perform it at the Green Gala April 6th!

March 14th was “Hands-On Training for Soul Farmers” with educator and urban farmer, Tyrean Heru Lewis of Heru Urban Farming! The program was featured for the after-school kids and the community could also attend! Tastings of mustard greens were served afterwards. Students planted red giant mustard greens, Georgia southern collards, watermelon, and tatsoi mustards, that they will later get to take home to plant in their yard, garden or window.

March 2, Tonia and Abbey from Seed St. Louis led the Green St Louis Machine after school kids in programs that involved worms and botanical journaling!
The snack was Caprese toothpicks made with basil growing in the Tower Gardens. Also, almost everyone wanted to try the balsamic glaze of the Caprese picks! As usual, the kids wanted to smell and taste the herbs and greens!
And of course some of the herbs and greens were fed to the worms!

March 16, botanist John from Missouri Botanical Garden led the 3rd and older after school kids in a session about
using plastic turtles, birthday candles and even themselves as project props! Crudité cups were served as a snack! (Some of the students liked to taste what is growing in our Tower Gardens.)
