Whelping a litter of puppies is exhausting!

Theres a significant amount of calories that is required for my momma to have the energy and milk supply to feed these hungry babies. To supplement her regular food intake and enhance her calcium, calorie, fat, and protein levels, it’s highly recommended to provide her with “Mother’s Pudding” consistently during labor and in the subsequent weeks as she nurses her puppies.

I always make a double batch… it goes fast!
I’ve modified our recipe but it’s close to Puppy Culture’s recipe for Mother’s Pudding.
Here’s how to make it:

Recipe: (double batch)
8 cups of goat milk
8 egg yolks (only the yolks!)
1 cup sugar
2 x 4.6 ounce packages of JELL-O Vanilla pudding (MUST be the Cook & Serve kind)

Whisk all ingredients together in a LARGE saucepan. Cook at low heat until the mixture bubbles throughout and has thickened to a soft pudding consistency. Let cool, then transfer to a sealable container and store in the refrigerator.

I also mix in about 3 tablespoons of pure canned pumpkin to each bowl of pudding for my momma as this helps with digestion. The pumpkin helps combat diarrhea and settles her tummy.

We found out today our girl is not carrying puppies and experienced a physiological pseudopregnancy 😕. Her hormones tricked her body into showing physical and nesting signs despite no pups being conceived.

B is in her final stage of gestation. The puppies are fully formed, and her body is actively preparing for birth.
