Told myself I wouldn’t lose Maren within motherhood.

I kinda did.

She’s still here. In quiet pockets of time where I’m alone. In the art I make and the way I laugh. In the books I read and songs I sing in the car.

But she’s softer now. Physically sure but in other ways too. In the way my stomach has marks of babies grown and my heart reaches new depths of understanding for others.

In the way I am patient beyond what I thought was possible and resilient in ways I couldn’t have imagined before.

Softer sure but sturdier too.

And I think that’s motherhood. Soft and sturdy in one place.

I snapped a photo of myself in my messy basement, baby chilling in the lounger, unwashed hair and laundry list of chores, choosing to reconnect with myself and exercise because moms deserve to feel taken care of too.

Nothing really prepares you for motherhood until you’re in the trenches. I hope you know how amazing you are if you’re raising babies right now. You are soft and sturdy and wonderful mama. Here’s to you ♥️
