Shared from John Orlando who will be presenting at our September event.

Imagine going for a slice of pizza using the bathroom and being trapped by a delivery bike. Unfortunately, 1st fatal fire of 2025 caused by an lithium-ion battery. New York City Fire Department (FDNY) doing a great job on inspections and public awareness. All were hoping no more fatalities. PRAYERS for the victim. Fires are on the rise. It is not illegal to own or use an uncertified device. Local Law 39 does not include MOPEDS. That is what this device looks like.

RIVER CITY RESCUE WEEKEND – ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI
September 12–14, 2025
Eureka Fire Training Center | Pacific, MO

On Saturday, join Max Fire Training for:
Modern Fires Demand a Modern Mindset: Max Fire Box Phase I & II Burn & Learn with Acquired Structure Thermal Imaging Drills

This hands-on session is designed to prepare firefighters for the challenges of today’s fire environment. Modern fires—driven by synthetic materials—burn hotter, grow faster, and behave differently than the legacy fires many of us were originally trained to fight.

We’ll begin with a review of critical fire behavior principles, including thermal layering, flow path, fire growth, and modern ventilation considerations. From there, we’ll transition to live-fire demonstrations using the Max Fire Box Phase I and Phase II. These training tools allow us to replicate conditions that are difficult—and in some cases unsafe—to recreate in acquired structures.

Participants will also receive in-service training on thermal imaging cameras. Firefighters are encouraged to bring their own TICs, and we’ll also provide a variety of models to compare image quality, functionality, and thermal interpretation techniques in real time.

The day concludes with live-fire acquired structure drills focused on thermal size-ups, coordinated attack, ventilation strategies, and decision-making under realistic conditions.

This session offers practical, relevant training that firefighters can immediately apply on the fireground. It’s a comprehensive blend of fire behavior education, hands-on reps, and thermal imaging support designed to improve safety, efficiency, and tactical effectiveness.

All conference participants will receive breakfast and lunch each day. Event merchandise will be available for purchase on-site in limited quantities.

Registration is now open. Multiple options are available, including full conference packages, classroom-only attendance, and single H.O.T. class registration.
