Watch and read the plans, pains, hurdles and achievements, as I retake my life like never before.
Weather is horrid!!! It’s 100° outside. With a feels like of 111°! So lounging inside and hydrating! But I live in an old farmhouse that’s not the easiest for indoor climate control, my goal is that the AC never be colder than 20° below outside temp (to keep my machine functioning as long as possible). Thankfully a couple fans can make a huge difference in terms of comfort. Leading me to a lazy day menu in addition to lots of water and a couple unsweetened iced teas -
1. Iced Coffee w/ 4 oz milk 🥛 (x 2)
2. Oat & Honey Protein Bar & fresh melon 🍈
3. Oven BBQ Pork Steaks (St. Louis spiced and Carolina style sauced)
3. Beef Rice-A-Roni
4. Green Beans with Potatoes
5. Garlic Toast
5. Iced Chai Tea w/ 4 oz milk
6. Birthday Cake 🎂 with a cup of milk 🥛
7. Corn chips with a buffalo chicken dip for snacks
What’s on your menu today?

I went out Monday night with family and had a blast. After spending all weekend at home resting and hydrating, it was well needed. But I've been exhausted and sore for three days since. Normally, I use steroids to get through big events; but recovering from a complicated UTI meant I could not safely use steroids... I'm taking today off from everything and resting at home with my pets. Continue to hydrate, eat lean and healthy (need to get more watermelon and blackberries; got plenty of cantaloupe and strawberries still) and go from there. Tomorrow is supposed to be a busy day, but I think I'll cancel everything except the Dr's appt. Sorry y'all my old ass needs some rest.!.
Psoriatic Arthritis Fatigue: Triggers, Exercise, and More Psoriatic arthritis and fatigue often go hand in hand. If you find yourself lacking energy to get through the day, look to your diet, your bedtime routine, and more in order to get the boost of energy you need.

Good morning! Are you celebrating this weekend? I had great plans. Sadly, my health had other plans... But while I'm home, I stocked up on easy yet themed foods and today's Americana Breakfast - Blueberry Muffin with Red Plum Jam, Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, and an iced café au lait (first coffee in two weeks! Boy was it good.).

Tonight's dessert as I watch this sudden thunderstorm out my window at my comfortable country retreat. Can't get more American than Apple Pie (or Turnover in this case) served with some Red, White, and Blue garnishing (Strawberries, Blackberries, and Whipped Cream).

I love the Egg McMuffin (with an Extra round egg to boost the protein) which pairs so well with their Fruit & Maple Oatmeal.
I asked 4 dietitians the worst fast food breakfast and they all said the same one McDonald's Big Breakfast with Hotcakes tops 1,300 calories and nearly maxes out your daily sodium.

Disability is a hard thing to see often times! In large part because most of us were taught as children to put forward our best foot. So, when someone asks "How are you?"... Most of us with chronic illness do not reply -
"well, my back really hurts today. So bad that when I took the dog out this morning, I had to sit down on the grass and let him run around and do his business. The antibiotics have my stomach so upset that at 4 am I woke up, had to strip my bed and then take a shower (to clean up) and then make my bed with clean linens. Thank goodness for the mattress protector.!. Speaking of antibiotics, I'm going into week 3 and go back for labs again on Monday. To be honest, I'm starting to get scared! Immune suppression really sucks!!! But the monthly infusion helps, even though it can hit me hard... leaving me nauseated, vomiting, and exhausted for 3-5 days. The weekly self-injections are working well, too. BUT they leave me with either diarrhea or constipation for a few days (and usually, I don't know which one to expect) along with heartburn/indigestion. The only medications that makes all of these symptoms a bit more manageable, makes me tired and need frequent naps...".
Growing up, I was always taught you present the best of yourself. By 8 am we are expected to be up, put together, and prepared to host an unexpected visitor or greet a neighbor if they should drop by. Sweats, house coats, swim attire (unless in use)... No! Those are for the gym, or at the pool/beach, or after visiting hours. But from 8 am through dinner, always be prepared to put forward your best foot. And that most certainly means no complaining! There are people in this world watching their child die of starvation, I damn sure don't have it that bad was the mindset...
But living in pain and discomfort quietly, not shouting from the rooftops about our limitations leaves the door open for others to blindly and unfairly set expectations in their head. Now of course, we could just ignore those folks. But not so easy! Do you easily ignore judgement from others? Especially when we've spent so many years working hard and being self-reliant, it hurts to have our weaknesses, our limitations pointed out. That's my Thoughtful Thursday post this week. Now go out there and enjoy your weekend. Do something fun with somebody interesting. Eat something soul soothing. Enjoy a morning at the beach, or in the creek, or park perhaps. Get out, burn calories, make yourself smile, eat reasonably healthy.. And remember, without enjoyment WTF is left.
