2025. Made some monsters and puppets, took a trip, celebrated Halloween, went to comic con, watched a trailer drop, and spent time with smart, kind, good humans, a few dogs, and I also tried to turn a look (lewk) at least two times. Happy new year- and unto the NEXT

It was a morning tech rehearsal for Into the Woods. I believe it was the day after the first preview at City Center- and the night before, the audiences had really responded amazingly to the puppets. I was surprised, tech was long and I had been doubting the choices I had made. But today, Lear was about to give notes in the house and the cast was gathering in the aisles and chatting about last night’s show- and Gavin bounds up to me. Now, to be clear, Gavin was someone I only had passing interactions with- handfuls of warm hellos in elevators, chuckles with cast members as we would gather in between rehearsals, etc.. but today Gavin bounded up to me and said “ so did you always know the puppets were going to really work?!” ‘Oh no,’ I shrugged ‘I had no idea.’ But Gavin closed his eyes, nodded vigorously and said “ oh I knew. I always knew….your work makes room for the audience to imagine.” 🥹🥹🥹 Gavin was funny and brave and playful, everyone’s biggest cheerleader (no hint of competition or career jealousy so many of us are prey to) and he was never afraid to communicate the affection he held for those around him—even for a passing acquaintance like me. Today, I’m thinking a lot about his loved ones and sending them even more of the warmth that Gavin gave away freely. Tell someone you love em today. X

Okay. The picture isn’t great and it’s kinda stomach turning to be this sort of a show off- but getting this was a big deal and picking it up was a big moment so it’s making the grid.
