🌈HAPPY PRIDE!!!🌈

Love, your fav q***r cooking class studio šŸ’š

06/01/2026

June means summer is officially here. Or at least as officially as it gets in St. Louis, where we’ve been sweating through 80-degree days since May anyway.

To celebrate, we’re sharing one of our favorite warm-weather drinks: sweet pineapple, a little jalapeƱo heat, and an optional tequila floater if you’re feeling it.

This recipe comes from our Summer Happy Hour class (now sold out), but there are still plenty of June classes with a similar summer energy:

🌈 Q***r Dinner Party, 6/3 (one spot left!)
ā˜€ļø Elevated Entertaining: Summer Dinner Party, 6/9
šŸ‰ Teens in the Kitchen: Summertime Cooking, 5/14
šŸ„— Cooking with Seasonal Vegetables: Summer Farmers’ Market, 6/25
šŸ”„ La Gringa Italians: The Italian Grill, 6/25
šŸ¹ Fennel X : Summer Entertaining, 6/28

Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking. 🌺

Today, let teach you how to make a quick, easy simple syrup out of things that might already be growing in your backyard. P.S: this makes a great Mother’s Day gift!

Remember, we’re giving away gift bags to mom (or your fave mother figure in your life) when you sign them up for any Fennel class if you purchase by May 10th! Just leave us a note at checkout.

If you like what you see here, join April for her next class, The Art Of Brunch, happening Saturday, May 17th.

We are just two weeks away from our first ever Fennel Community Potluck!

Have you RSVP’d yet? If you’re still stumped on what to bring, here’s what we recommend:
Anything scoop-able, dip-able, share-able, and picnic-able. We won’t have a heat source, so keep that in mind while you brainstorm!

Recipes from any source are welcome: from your grandma’s cookbook, last potluck, favorite seasonal appetizer…it’s all fair game!

This event is free and open to all! We’ll compile every recipe from the day for a Fennel Community Cookbook down the road. RSVP at the link in our bio.

Saturday, May 16
4-6pm
Gurney Picnic Site
Tower Grove Park

Be part of the Fennel Community Cookbook!

I can’t wait to see you at our first ever Fennel potluck on May 16th. Here’s how it works:

šŸ“² RSVP to the free potluck through the link in our bio. You can sign up before you know what you’ll bring.

šŸ“ We’ll reach out to you with a form to submit your potluck recipe (along with any fun notes/stories about the recipe and the source so we can credit it).

🧺 Show up to the potluck with your dish & a picnic blanket. Meet new friends, eat delicious food, and hang with the Fennel crew!

šŸ“• We’ll compile recipes into a free digital cookbook to send back to you, so you get to make your favorite recipes from your neighbors at home!

Who will we see there??

Not all onions are created equal šŸ§…

Yellow for your everyday cooking, red when you want a little bite, white for a sharper flavor, and shallots when things need to feel a little extra.

Leave any onion questions in the comments!

IT’S SOUP SEASON! Finally!

This week’s substack is all about soup. It’s a step-by-step guide I use for making every kind of soup without a recipe. If you want to make better soups without a recipe, check it out!

In the newsletter, I walk you through the steps with visuals, throw in a recipe for the pictured Spiced Butternut Squash & Red Lentil Soup (for those of you who like to follow a recipe), and include an info-packed PDF that you can hang on your fridge to help you make delicious soups out of any ingredients in your fridge. I hope you find it helpful! I had so much fun writing about soups for you.

This newsletter is for paid subscribers, but you can get a free trial if you’re not already a paid subscriber. Link in bio to check out my Substack!
