The City of Springtown is excited to announce the completion of our new downtown mural! Funded by the City Council as part of the 2025–2026 budget year’s downtown improvement efforts, this colorful addition was designed to celebrate the character, history, and unmistakable spirit of our community.

Situated on the west wall of City Hall at 102 E. Second Street, this mural symbolizes more than just an improvement to a downtown space, the mural is a reflection of Springtown pride. As our community continues to grow, projects like this help create welcoming public spaces while celebrating the identity and small-town character that make Springtown home.

This design was finalized following community input and thoughtfully created to incorporate elements—both past and present—that celebrate Springtown’s rich cultural heritage. While some of the imagery may be immediately recognizable, the mural also includes several details with deeper meaning for our community.

The entire mural is designed to resemble a postcard from Springtown, complete with stamps in the upper right corner. The sunrays also resemble rows of crops, paying tribute to the agricultural roots that played an important role in Springtown’s history. The two stamps feature a porcupine, recognizing Springtown ISD, and a Christmas tree, celebrating our community’s longstanding Old-Fashioned Christmas tradition, formerly known as Christmas on the Square. Look closely at the stamps and you’ll also find the numbers 18 and 59—together representing 1859, the year Springtown was founded.

The water depicted in the lower right portion of the mural is another nod to our history. Springtown was originally known as Littleton Springs, a name reflecting the natural springs found throughout the area. Our community developed among several spring-fed creeks, with underground springs still lying beneath much of the city today. The rectangular element on the center right portion incorporates into the mural more local significance—it is a representation of Springtown’s historic town square.

We also extend a special thank you to mural artist Carly Haynie and her team for the tremendous amount of work they put into this project. From thoughtfully developing and refining the design to bringing it to life on the wall during some exceptionally hot Texas days, their talent, creativity, and dedication are evident throughout the finished mural.

We hope the mural becomes a place where residents and visitors stop, take a photo, and make a memory. Everyone is welcome to come by, snap a picture in front of the mural, and share your Springtown pride!
