We recognized our valued Springfield colleagues at a Faculty Appreciation Dinner last week. Thanks to all our collaborators for their ongoing support in training tomorrow’s physicians!

“It’s difficult as a medical student to know what your role is in terms of patient care,” Pancoast said. “That’s something we all struggle with. But it was pretty great when I met Memphis and his parents and realized I do have an important role in the medical care of each patient. I can serve them with compassion and have a lot more time to spend with them than the attending physicians do, just because they’re so busy.”

After leaving Mizzou, Jena Swingle, MD, class of 2013, completed her OB-GYN intern year at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. Then she was assigned a three-year tour of duty as a flight surgeon for a helicopter squadron at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. She traveled with her squadron to Okinawa and the Philipines.

She is now back at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego for her OB/GYN residency. Thank you for your service, Jena!
