Who knew a blindfold and a snack table could turn into such organized chaos?

Our youth took on the “Bird Box Challenge” and things got hilariously unpredictable. From competitive cup-stacking to PB&Js assembled purely by intuition, to cereal bowls featuring some very questionable mystery liquids… it was a full experience.

Let’s just say: nobody went hungry and everyone laughed a lot.

Youth ministry at its finest: teamwork, creativity, and just enough chaos to keep it interesting.

Dear people of Christ Church,

We want to thank you for all the love and support you provided us as we dealt with the death of Joanna.

It was wonderful to be surrounded by people who remembered Joanna as a five-year-old when we moved here and still knew her as she graduated from high school and began college in Rhode Island and Italy. You saw her as a St Cecelia’s choir member, in Sunday School, in the youth group, and serving as an acolyte.

Mary Bohlen and Kenny Kabak made a massive Costco run to provide basic supplies and then established a Meal Train for us (we have never eaten so well). We also received money, which will be given to the Art Department at Nixa High School in Joanna’s name.

You welcomed our friends and family who traveled her from St. Louis, Mississippi, California, Utah and Arizona. Thank you Franz for live-streaming the service for those who could not attend in person.

The funeral service itself was wonderful. Thank you Kenny and Perry for the music and for the choir members who vested and sat in the choir stalls. The service bulletin was exactly right – two great pictures of Joanna. Austin and Hayley – many thanks for serving as Eucharistic Ministers.

Fr Ron – so many people told me “That’s the best sermon I ever heard!” I also heard comments about “the priest with the flowing locks” (obviously Mtr Katherine). Definitely Fr Joe was meant to celebrate – there was not a bruise on his face.

The reception was great. The Funeral Committee, directed by Susan Cardwell, outdid itself. Even the teenagers were well fed.

Fr Joe and Mtr Katherine were with us the next morning at Hazelwood Cemetery as we said goodbye to Joanna for the final time. It was difficult.

Again, thank you so much for the cards, letters, emails, thoughts, and prayers for our family as we begin to establish a life with Joanna being a memory not a presence. You will never know what this means to us.

Our 30 Plus or Minus group had a great time at a local board game cafe, Village Meeple, last night! 🤩 There was plenty of laughter, some strategy, and just a little (for the most part) friendly competition 😁🎲
