One of the biggest differences we implement in our learning room is creating experiences that feel natural and playful. While, still intentionally building strong academic foundations.
Children are tracing, matching, storytelling, drawing, labeling, pretending, and creating in their independent time.
Which is done with intent, of course! To purposely strengthening the exact skills they’ll need for confident spelling, reading, writing, and independent learning!
Our goal isn’t rush academics. It’s to build confident learners who genuinely enjoy learning!
The entire rhythm of our learning room changed when we embraced independent work.
Some of the sweetest moments in our classroom happen in the in-between.
Busy bins have become such a grounding part of our rhythm. They help our transitions feel calm, purposeful, and full of discovery while giving the children space to explore on their own, the lessons we have been learning.

What a successful market!!
These kids worked so hard preparing for today’s market, and watching them confidently share what they made was such a special moment. They weren’t just selling crafts or creations. They were practicing communication, creativity, responsibility, problem solving, and confidence in such a real and meaningful way.
You guys showed up in the best way possible. Thank you for supporting the children, encouraging them, shopping their booths, and making this day feel so special for them. It turned out so beautifully, and the joy in our space was something I know the kids will remember for a long time.
We love the work we are doing here at Nurtureden, and we are so thankful for the families who continue to grow this beautiful community with us.
Zoom into our classroom,
I sat back and watched this for a bit today.
They were matching the colors first, taking their time, making sure each piece was right. Then I asked them to place it beside and you could see the shift.
A pause, a look at it, a move, an adjustment. Not guessing, really thinking about where it belonged.
Those are the moments I pay attention to.
Because what looks simple on the surface is actually a child processing language, making sense of it, and following through with intention.
It doesn’t happen all at once. It’s slow, it’s thoughtful, and it builds over time.
And this is exactly how understanding begins.

Zoom into our classroom,
This is what early math looks like here.
We’ve been exploring 2D and 3D shapes, not through pressure or rush but through time, repetition, and space to explore.
Activities are placed on the shelves as invitations. The kids come to them when they’re ready, and that’s where the real learning happens.
You’ll see them turning pieces, comparing shapes, testing ideas, and working through challenges independently.
What looks like a simple activity is building problem solving, early geometry skills, and the kind of confidence that carries into everything else they learn.
This is the foundation we focus on.
Zoom into our classroom,
before kids can write, we start with play.
Play can look so different like, building little worlds with farms, strengthening tiny hands with pin punching (I mean come on who doesn’t love the sound of stabbing the paper!), to finding words in stories and then writing them.
It all flows together, play, focus, reading, and writing.
In a soft, simple, and exactly how learning should feel kind of way.

Learning in our space often looks simple. Blocks, Colors, Matching cards.
But underneath that simplicity is so much growth. From a 1 year old learning to explore, to older children making connections and thinking more deeply.
This is how we build, confident learners, strong foundations, curious capable minds.
It doesn’t have to be complicated to be powerful. Just intentional, and meaningful.

Zoom into our classroom, first stop learning about starting a business.
We kicked it off by teaching the children how to identify, name, and count pennies.
We’re using the book, Big Projects for Little Learners by Mikaela Martinez, along with her Good at Math curriculum as a beautiful support for our business project-based learning unit.
We love teaching fun hands-on way to connect math with real life learning.
This is who..
Is behind the learning room, who is creating a space for kids to learn and grow. 💚
Past, present and future families that have crossed our paths, thank you for being on this journey with us!
