📣💛 1st Annual Shawnee Color Guard Camp & Performance! 🖤📣

Calling all Shawnee Elementary students in Grades 2–6! Come spin, dance, and perform with 🎶The Pride of Shawnee Marching Band🎶 at our very first Color Guard Camp!

Participants will learn a routine during camp and then get the incredible opportunity to perform it WITH the marching band during the pregame show at the FIRST Shawnee Braves home football game on Friday, September 4th! 🏈✨

📅 Camp Date: Wednesday, June 3⏰ Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM📍 Location: Shawnee HS Band Practice Field (behind the tennis courts)💲 Cost: $35 per student(Includes camp experience, t-shirt, pizza dinner on Sept. 4th, and their very own flag!)

✨ Why Join?
This camp is a fun introduction to color guard and a great way for students to be part of something special while supporting The Pride of Shawnee Marching Band!

📌 Important Information:• Students will receive their flag at camp and will use it during the football game performance• Participants get to keep their flag after the performance!• Videos of the routine will be shared with families through Google Drive• Students will stay after school on Sept. 4th for rehearsal before the game• Pizza will be provided before the performance

1st Annual Pride of Shawnee Color Guard Camp Registration Calling all Shawnee Elementary students in Grades 2nd–6th! Come spin, dance, and perform with The Pride of Shawnee Marching Band!

What a busy and exciting week we had for our band program!

On Tuesday, our bands took the stage for their final concert of the school year, Music, Magic and Movies! Each ensemble did a fantastic job, and it was a wonderful way to celebrate all of the hard work, growth, and dedication our students have shown throughout the year. We are so proud of everything they accomplished!

The excitement continued on Wednesday and Thursday as The Pride of Shawnee kicked off spring marching band season in preparation for the Memorial Day Parade. The hard work never stops as rehearsals continue again this week!

Join the Shawnee MS/HS Bands this Tuesday, May 5th, for a fun-filled evening of Magic, Music, and Movies! Our students will be performing some of your favorite film themes—including plenty of Disney classics you won’t want to miss.

On Friday, our Jazz Ensemble traveled to TAC for a special lunchtime performance! It’s always one of our favorite stops—there’s nothing better than sharing our love of music with the community. 🎶

Tomorrow we’re kicking off our annual Mystery Eggs fundraiser during lunch! Each egg is just $1 and packed with a fun surprise. And keep your eyes peeled… if you’re one of the LUCKY ones to find a golden ticket, you’ll get to pick an extra special prize! 🐣🥚

Last night was a truly special performance for the Shawnee High School Jazz Ensemble. 🎶

Students had the incredible opportunity to perform alongside the Springfield Symphony Jazz Orchestra at the John Legend Theater, creating a memorable and inspiring evening of music. Sharing the stage with such talented professional musicians was an experience that many of the students will remember for years to come.

At the end of the performance, many people stopped to share how impressed they were with the ensemble’s sound, confidence, and level of musicianship. Several comments mentioned how difficult it was to believe the students were a high school ensemble, which speaks volumes about the dedication and preparation these students bring to every rehearsal and performance.

Our performance concluded with a standing ovation from the audience, a powerful moment that reflected just how much the music resonated with everyone in the room. It was an incredible recognition of the students’ hard work and the energy they brought to the stage.

For many of the students, this performance will stand out as one of the top musical experiences of their high school careers. Opportunities like this allow young musicians to perform in a professional setting, connect with outstanding performers, and experience the impact of live jazz at a whole new level.

The students represented The Pride of Shawnee with excellence and pride, and the evening was a wonderful celebration of music, collaboration, and community. 💛🖤🎷

Yesterday, our Shawnee High School Jazz Ensemble had the opportunity to rehearse on the stage of the John Legend Theatre as we prepared for tonight’s performance with the Springfield Symphony Jazz Orchestra. It was such a great experience for our students to spend time in the space and get a feel for the stage ahead of the concert.

The students have been working hard to prepare, and they are thrilled to have the opportunity to share the stage this evening! We are incredibly proud of these musicians and can’t wait to watch them perform tonight. If you’re looking for a great night of music, come out and support these talented students!
