Why does blue hair color always fade to green? Blue and yellow make.. green. Yellow is the natural color of ANY highlight, that’s why we tone. When you add enough purple to your blue formula you cancel out green! And there you still have a long lasting color. Because we all know this blue won’t last a long time in her hair. Cold water is a must for shampoos! Less shampoo the better for a longer lasting vivid!

LET’S TALK KIDS CUTS ✂️ — or, as I call them, Junior Clipper Cuts.

I have a little bit of a different philosophy when it comes to cutting kids’ hair.

After almost 15 years behind the chair, one thing I know for sure: a great kids’ haircut is not necessarily easier than an adult haircut. Honestly, sometimes it takes more patience, precision and attention to detail. 😂

So when you see cuts like the ones pictured here, these aren’t what I consider a quick “kids cut.”

These are Junior Clipper Cuts — $50.

Skin fades, blending, detailing, styling—the same level of care and craftsmanship I put into an adult clipper cut goes into these little guys, too. And because of that, I don’t heavily discount the service simply because the person sitting in my chair happens to be younger.

I also want to be transparent about something: I don’t currently accept little ones as a general booking category. My younger kiddos are typically the children of longtime clients, close friends, and families I’ve built relationships with over the years. And yes—if I’ve been doing your hair forever and it’s time for your baby’s first haircut, obviously we’re going to talk. 🤍 Those situations are a little different.

I actually love a challenge—and I take pride in being the barber people trust when they want it done right. If you know someone who’s “so picky,” I’d genuinely love to have them in my chair. I like to guarantee a clean, consistent clipper cut every time.

Because little heads still deserve big attention to detail. 🤌🏼

The Identity Lab was never just a cool name for a salon. It came from a very real place in my life — a time when I had lost so much that I genuinely had to figure out who I was again. And somewhere along the way, I realized how deeply hair is connected to identity. How we see ourselves. How we express ourselves. How sometimes changing what we see in the mirror can be one small part of finding ourselves again.

That became The Identity Lab.

So to have someone walk into my little world, sit down with me, hear my story and then share it in a way that captured not only what I do, but why I do it… that is incredibly special.

And the coolest part is how it even happened. Zach Adams stopped by the salon, passed my name along to someone else, and that connection turned into a conversation I never expected to have — and then into this beautiful piece about me and my business.

Thank you, Zach, for speaking my name when I wasn’t in the room. And thank you to the person who took the time to come meet me, listen to me and tell my story with so much care.

Parking is free and typically easy to find—there are usually open spaces directly in front of the salon on Adams Street. If those are taken, simply continue a few blocks or use the free parking garage at Seventh and Adams.

A few helpful reminders:

• Adams Street is a two-way street.
• Don’t feed the meters—parking is free!
• Handicap-accessible parking is available.
• The entire salon is wheelchair accessible.
