Reflection of the week:
As you are reflecting this week, we ask that you think of the people of Columbia. This weekend, a bomb on a bus killed 20 people and injured dozens more. This bomb was one of more than 20 violent incidents that have taken place in just the last few days. There are currently around 7 million people internally displace in Columbia, much of that has been due to escalating violence. We hope that this violence will be quelled, that civilians will be spared, and that those who have fled will be given refuge.
Reflection of the week:
As you are reflecting this week, we ask that you think of the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Militant groups have killed and captured thousands of civilians. Troops were able to free 200 captives this weekend, but many more remain in captivity. Additionally, it is estimated that 1 million refugees are seeking shelter abroad, while an additional 21 million are in desperate need of aid. We hope that civilians being held will be freed, that refugees will be given shelter, and that those in need of aid will be provided for.

Asking for Referrals and Increases – Minus the Scary Let’s be honest. Asking for referrals feels awkward. Asking for increases often feels awkward too. As they raise support, most ministry workers either avoid these conversations altogether or …
Reflection of the week:
As you are reflecting this week, we ask that you think of the people of Afghanistan. A growing water crisis, particularly in Kabul, threatens millions of people. Without clean water, incidence of disease will quickly skyrocket. A pipeline and reservoir are currently planned but are underfunded and will take years to complete. We hope that current measures will increase water access, that future plans will be funded and completed, and that those in need will be provided for.
Reflection of the week:
As you are reflecting this week, we ask that you think of the people of the Philippines. With nearly 60% of the population living on less than $6 per day, soaring gas prices threaten to bring the economy to a standstill. We hope that gas prices will not continue to rise, that the Filipino economy will continue moving, and that those in need will be provided for.
Reflection of the week:
As you are reflecting this week, we ask that you think of the people of Nigeria. A recent attack that left at least 30 dead is yet one more instance of violence that has become unfortunately common in the northern region. It is currently estimated that more than 3.5 million people have been displaced due to internal violence. Much of this is due to extremist insurgency. We hope that the people of Nigeria will be protected from violence, that those displaced will find refuge, and that the extremists responsible will be stopped.

Reflection of the week:
As you are reflecting this week, we ask that you think of the people of Cuba. This weekend, Cuban people faced a third power outage just this month. With an aging power grid and continued fuel shortages, the Cuban people are struggling in an already worsened economy. We hope that humanitarian aid will reach all those who are striving, that the power grid will be rejuvenated, and that governments will put people before politics.
Reflection of the week:
As you are reflecting this week, we ask that you think of the people of Ecuador. The Ecuador government has recently deployed more than 75,000 officers and soldiers in an attempt to quell drug related violence. It is estimated that over 70% of the population is affected by drug violence and more than 400,000 people have fled the country because of it. We hope that the drug cartels will be stopped, that this violence will cease, and that the people of Ecuador will no longer have to life in fear.
Reflection of the week:
As you are reflecting this week, we ask that you think of the people of Kenya. A recent major flood has disrupted many areas near the Nairobi and Sondu-Miriu Rivers affecting more than 10,000 households. We hope that those in need will be helped, that the death toll will not continue to rise, and that this disaster may be avoided in the future.
Reflection of the week:
As you are reflecting this week, we ask that you think of the middle east. Air strikes have hit Israel, Iran, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan, and Oman. With tensions running high, and the death toll climbing, this conflict threatens to explode. We hope that this tension will cool, that civilians will be spared, and that this conflict will be resolved peacefully.
