Over the past decade, state support for the Illinois Arts Council Agency (IACA) has decreased by more than half, from $20 million (FY 2007) to $9.9 million (FY 2018).

The arts are essential to the health of our communities, yet the governor has proposed cutting the agency’s budget even further — by 19 percent, to $8.0 million in FY 2019.

Contact the governor and your state legislators today. Tell them that cutting the IACA budget is not acceptable and urge them to support at least $9.9 million in FY 2019 state funding for the agency. This unrelenting erosion must stop, and we must restore state support for the arts.
