Julie Wolfert and SSH Pl***oy were an unlikely pairing from the start. The Kansas-based trainer got the ride when the parents of her students believed in her potential and bought her a horse capable of taking her up the levels. But a broken fetlock, surgery and 15 months away from the four-star level put their future in question.

In July, they completed the comeback by winning the CCI4*-L at The Event at Rebecca Farm.

“I trust that horse with my life,” Wolfert said. “We just know each other now really well.”

Had a phenomenal weekend with Valeo at the USA Driving Developing Athletes Clinic with Glenn Geerts at Charlottes Creek Farm in Lexington, KY.

Our dressage work focused on transitions and lateral suppleness. Marathon training used several different obstacles to work on technique; focusing on timing in the turns as well as using lanes correctly to set up for turns. Cones on Day 3 included the “circle of death”, a box, serpentine, wave and a turning question set of oxers. Our transition and suppleness work from the previous days came into play as well added speed throughout the course.
