We had a fantastic time competing with Valeo in the FEI 1* at TerraNova Equestrian Center but the highlight of the weekend was the reunion with former student Heather Kircher AND having her help as groom for jog and dressage! So many smiles. Thank you Heather! Thank you to for the gorgeous PojKon Carriage and to for coaching.

Louie is continuing to impress! Florida boot camp has been such a great opportunity for exposure for this youngster. He’s been exposed to 4 In Hands, flags, warm up rings, multiple dressage judge stands, water complexes, bagpipe players, terrain color changes, killer speakers and the list keeps growing. So proud of how Lou is learning and settling into his job.

Our family kept this struggle pretty quiet. Only a handful were privy to the roller coaster we were riding. Those who saw him throughout the recovery process surely questioned our decision to continue efforts. It was a pretty sad sight in our barn at times.

It was definitely a bonding experience for Heath, Peyton and me as we dealt with twice daily splint changes, constant stall cleaning of insanely deep bedding, abscess care, monthly trips to MU for over a year, hand walking duties and more.

We met some amazing people along the way and are beyond thankful for Dr. Warren, Dr. Hayden and Dustyn and the full MU crew and students.

Tucker really does think he’s a real horse now. Every gallop in from the pasture makes us smile. Every ba****ck hack on the big couch brings happy tears to my eyes.

This guy has alway been special. Yes. It was worth it.

Congratulations to Dr. Warren! Her resident seminar on laminitis was very informative and helped us to better understand how the Deep Digital Flexor Tenotomy benefits laminitis patients.

If your horse has a flare of laminitis, ask your vet about this surgical option. It was a lifesaver for Tucker who had severe rotation and crushed blood supply. Although not indicated in all cases of laminitis, early intervention gives a better prognosis and shorter recovery window.
