Springfield MO For years we called this plant a Christmas cactus, but after looking up the segments as they are called it is a thanksgiving cactus as it’s commonly called. It started to bud at Christmas and bloomed all the way through January. These plants went a couple of years without blooming and decided to blom this year. Don’t know about other people bit these plants seem to boom around Christmas 🤷🏻♂️

Caught this monarch on an interesting looking item according to the Missouri Department of conservation it is Buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) is a large multi stemmed shrub or small tree that typically grows in low areas, almost always around water. The shrubs form thickets that can be impenetrable. They are often planted as ornamentals in native landscaping and the fragrant blossoms are a favored nectar source for pollinators. The nutlets produced in the fall are eaten by many types of birds.
