The Southwest Missouri Museum Associates were organized as "The Art Study Club" in 1926 for the purpose of founding an art museum in Springfield, MO. Edwina Cosset, Mrs. Guy Evans, Mrs. Lewis Luster, Mrs. Thomas Maartin, Deborah Weisel, and Mrs. Edward Wilhoit. The Art Study Club incorporated as the "Springfield Art Museum" in 1928.
