Thank you for your understanding and support!
Reminder that our social media will be on hiatus!
If you have questions, please call us on any of our numbers. We will be more than happy to assist you.
Thank you for all the support over the years!
Without you, there would be no GeekABC.
Remember that if you would like to come by the shop, there's no appointment needed. We do recommend you call beforehand, just in case, though.
In exactly 1 week, the GeekABC social media will be going on hiatus.
If you have questions, please call us instead.
The Fairfax shop can be reached at (703) 539-6080.
Our hours will be updated on our website, so please check there if you plan to come in.
Good luck!
For your projects, work, school, dreams, and more: we wish you the best of luck. No matter what hardships you may face, we want you to see the rainbow on the other side of the storm.
Make sure you check the minimum and recommended specs for programs you want to use!
These are easier to find for games, but others can be found on forums. Try to aim for the recommended specs, especially for graphics, unless you want to run things on the lowest settings.
Make sure you and your computer get enough rest!
We're not talking about Sleep Mode, either. That would be more like a nap than a full sleep. You need to fully power down your computer occasionally to let it recharge and refresh. The same goes for yourself.
Nowadays, everyone is so concerned with speed and productivity that they forget to rest. Being in a constant state of rush isn't good for your long-term mental state!
Resting too long isn't good either, though! You need to strike a balance between them. One way to do so is with a proper sleep schedule.
Routines help you be more productive!
With Windows 11 now out, we advise you to exercise a bit of caution. We usually recommend waiting about a month to ensure the new OS is working as intended.
Currently, it also doesn't support Android apps just yet, so wait a bit if that's what you're looking for.
Friendly reminder that our Fairfax shop on Pickett Rd is accepting drop-offs for diagnostics.
This service takes about 3 days to complete, varying based on our current queue. For most computers, this assessment is also free!
Welcome to October!
It doesn't quite feel like fall just yet, but the cold winds are coming.
Just like in summer, be careful with changing temperatures. This time, however, the heat will likely be indoors. Remember that even though you may like to be bundled up, your computer doesn't.
It needs to stay cool to run at its best.
Added tip: try not to move your laptop around while it's on.
While it's not as bad for laptops with SSDs, try to remember to turn your computer all the way off when transporting it.
And no, closing it is not turning it off. That's just making it sleep!
Overheating is a threat that any computer can face, so do your best in keeping your computer comfortable. This means fans or liquid cooling for desktops and cooling pads for laptops.
Just a reminder that we currently are only taking walk-ins at our Fairfax location on Pickett Rd.
If you want to swing by, there's no appointment needed. Most computers are eligible for our free diagnostic, as well.
