Chairs Caned

Then there were the 7 airplane chairs for the 1929 Travel Air 6000, single prop currently in restoration at the Grimes Air Field In Urbana OH. The very first airplane to drop a firefighter --into a tree, cut himself free to fight the fire. Doug Smith (center) is the talented co-ordinator of this operation, aided by MANY volunteers. In 2020 it be flown to its new home in the Mid AMerica Flight Museum, Texas.

All 24 2 sided caned back desk chairs are now in the Univ. of Pittsburgh's Phillipino Hospitality Room for use. Quite an undertaking.
