Can you believe it's been 3 days since Team IL was on the hill? to meetings with Representative Bill Foster and Representative and cancer survivor Eric Sorensen. Thank you for supporting this important legislation benefiting cancer patients and their families.

The sea of blue could not be stopped on Tuesday! 🩵 Team IL went to every single IL senator and representative office to fight for the highest amount of funding for cancer research and co-sponsorship for the clinical trials modernization act. Leadership Summit & Lobby Day might be over, but this team is just getting started.

We are proud to honor Roger Crawford with the 2026 IL Lights of Hope Story Column.

Over a 43-year oncology career, Roger Crawford had a clear-eyed view of the gaps in cancer care. To help fill those gaps, Roger joined the American Cancer Society and then ACS CAN, embedding himself in legislative efforts to increase cancer research funding and improve access to care. He quickly became a leader, serving as ACT Lead and as State Lead Ambassador. Roger is a proud recipient of many well-deserved awards, including Illinois Volunteer of the Year, ACT Lead of the Year, Illinois Ambassador of the Year and the Lane Adams Quality of Life Award. Congratulations and thank you, Roger.

Team IL had an incredibly successful day on capital hill! We were able to connect with all 19 offices about supporting the highest possible funding for cancer research and the clinical trials modernization act.

🌽 We had a great time in the community this past weekend!

Two of our amazing ACS CAN Illinois volunteers attended the Mendota Sweet Corn Festival in Mendota, IL, where they connected with attendees, shared how ACS CAN advocates for policies that reduce the cancer burden, sold Lights of Hope bags, and encouraged supporters to sign our Protect Cancer Cures petition.

Thanks to their hard work, they even raised more than $100 for ACS CAN! 👏 Way to go, and thank you for helping advance the fight against cancer.
